I think the biggest issue with the NFL is the turnover and expendability of the players. Older, beat up bodies are yesteday's news in a heart beat....the league feeds on youth like no other sport.

Webber will sign with the Pistons.

The nimrods at 950 believe he could still be a 12 rebound a night player. Not blue.

Word on the street is that the Pistons will now turn around and ship a big man (Nazzy, Dale Davis, McDyess, or (less likely) Maxiell)) for some SG or Swing help, as they now have too many big guys.

I'll admit that I haven't been following the Sixers very much over the last couple of seasons, but the way this team has floundered under Cheeks (before AI and Webber got jettisoned) has me wandering one thing:

Was Jim O'Brien really that bad of a coach?

The Sixers went from 43 wins and a playoff appearance in 2005 when the Eastern Conference wasn't that bad to 38 wins last year under Cheeks when the conference got slightly worse.

So did the Sixers overachieve with O'Brien and play the way we thought they would under Cheeks?

Or did they play the way we thought they would under O'Brien and underachieve with Cheeks at the helm last season?

O'Brien was a good coach.

The problem was that he made his players really work, and if anything, they played defense, something this team is sorely lacking.

I'm still trying to gauge whether or not Cheeks has the talent or is just a bad coach. I remember the teams he took to the playoffs in Potland, but they were totally stacked and things fell apart quickly towards the end.

I think it's a bit of both - he's not a good enough coach, but the horses he has should be turned into glue. This is a team with no identity, and they didn't really have one since the start of the year, even before that.

Break up the Sixers! Team's on a roll. 5 out of 8 and 13 of their next 15 at home.

I'm deadly serious. Break up the Sixers.

The Celtics are 2-19 since star Paul Pierce went out on Dec. 20 with a stress reaction in his left foot that was supposed to keep him out for about three weeks. The NBA's most decorated franchise, with a record 16 championships, needs to beat the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night to avoid a record 14th straight loss.

Fkn Celtics.

Sixers don't even know when to tank a season.

Jim O'Brien, is, and was, a bad coach. End of story.

Iggy's averaging around 23.5 pts, 6 rebs and 6 assists in his last 10 games.

Promising.

And this has got to be the greatest stretch in Dalembert's career. Not saying he's turned a corner just yet, but maybe he's finally getting it. Not seeing as many stupid mistakes as he used to make. He's staying out of foul trouble for the most part, blocking a lot of shots, and his rebounding has been very consistent.

Only player not to benefit from Andre Miller's presence has been Willie Green. I never realized what a ballhog he is.

SZR,

Not to take away anything from the seeming emergence of Iggy and Dally, but bear in mind that someone has to score on a bad team, and that their recent output may be a result of the reality that on a team bereft of stars everyone else is going to get more touches/shots/opportunities to score.

Just a thought.

Nah, not that bad, bad enough to miss the playoffs and good enough to screw up the draft pic... gotta love it.

There's no other place to put this, but...

Joey Crawford, who has refereed more playoff games than any other active ref, has been suspended for the playoffs (including the Finals) for tossing Tim Duncan on Sunday....for laughing.

Duncan contends that Crawford also challenged him to a fight.

Here's the link.
