The other thing to consider is that developers have to make money (duh), so if there are games that cross platforms, they'll put the focus on the system that has the most users, which is another reason why some companies don't take advantage of the Cell. Shoot, some companies were still making PS2 games until Sony sort of put a stop to it by getting rid of BC in the PS3.

Programming for the PS3/Cell is definitely different from programming for the Xbox.

Since the Xbox is designed along classic CPU architecture lines, it's easier for developers to ramp up on it since it's what they're used to.

Programming for the Cell is programming a multiprocessor machine, and game developers have been able to avoid this type of programming skill to this point, since there's been no MP consoles.

It's a big hurdle to get over, but once they commit to it, the rewards are tremendous.

As is being shown across the board in computers, you have to move to a multi-processing scenario, as clock speed and power dissipation are becoming limiting factors in single processor machines.

Exactly, but that's IF they decide to. Like bass said, they want to make money, and they're not only selling to a much smaller crowd, but also have to invest more time and money into it.

They don't have the same amount of vents and have been overheating.

But $399 for the 80 gig is a great deal.

So is $335 for the 120 gig Xbox.

Man, I'm not going to get into a big thing about whether or not the 40 gig is having problems. If that was retracted, or proven wrong, so be it.

problems with the newer PS3s seems especially odd since the new Cell chips use less electricty and give off less heat in the first place.

It really depends on what you like to play. Heavenly Sword is prolly my next purchase. I got COD4, but if you like shooting mosters with sci-fi weapons, a used copy of Resistance would light your fire.

Gamestop coupon for 20% off a used game.

You should join gamefly

I played Heavenly Sword. It's fun, but it's only about a 5 or 6 hour game.
