Bass, I used Carol at Century 21 (http://www.century21pinnacle.com/contact.html).
She's been in the business a long time, she knows her stuff, and she won't BS you if you ask her for her honest opinion.
She's a part owner of the Easton/Allentown office and can cover anywhere in the Lehigh Valley.
If you want more information or anything like that, let me know (Maybe I could have Johnson send you my email address or something).

Glenn,
The HDMI cables are pretty pricey but well worth it.
When I first got my TV I used the XYB whatever cables that came with the cable box. The High Def picture looked fabulous to me. 2 months later I broke down and bought the HDMI cable and the picture was even better.
The best advice I can give is to make sure the tv has multiple inputs (2 component, 1 s video etc.) It really make hooking up everything that much easier and makes setting up picture in picture a snap.

Does anyone think Fd is really Peyton Manning (considering his Mastercard advice commercial) and that, as usual, people were mining the level for material? I think Fd is a Visa user and not MC.

Did anyone ever buy the stupid Xtended Warranty on their TV? It can't be worth it, can it? How long are the typical Manufacturer's warranties? Are they getting away with only 1 year on something that costs over a grand?

I agree, NEAG, I almost never buy them. I did pay something like $100 bucks on my laptop but that was for Dell in-home service. I can't take being w/o a computer. But there does seem to be some disconnect between the warranty a Manufacturer offers on some big tickets items and what the retailer wants to charge you to extend it to a reasonable level. 1 year warranty is fine for my driver. But for a $2,000 washing machine that a bit skimpy. Same goes for a $1500 TV, IMO.

Yeah, extended warranties virtually never pay off.
I bought one when I got my Samsung DLP, but that was because the technology had just come out, and wasn't quite proven yet. I never used the warranty.
For cables, check out http://www.pacificcable.com/
Good stuff at reasonable prices.

Ok, these cables are interesting too. What am I going to NEED to just hook the TV up? I guess I need the HD converter box from Comcast? And then how many cables?
Ugh. Based on the prices I see sounds like I am gonna have to wait for a ship, cause $170 for a Monster Cable is pretty ridiculous.

The $100 cables are not worth it unless you have a very, very discerning eye. There is virtually no difference between the $5 cables you get online and the monster cables they sell at Best Buy--I think monter cables are made from gold, but who cares?
I went with a 42" 1080p LCD Sony Bravia. It cost more than some of the other brands, but it has a few upgrades that are worth it if you have a bluray/hd-dvd player (better color resolution, especially black).
I bought mine about a year ago and the same TV costs about $700 less right now. Flat-panels are really coming down in price, now seems like a good time.

I got a 40" Samsung. But not getting any HD right now. Got the HD converter box and just plugged the HDMI out from the box to the HDMI 1 in on the TV. No HD, numerous channels not coming in at all including ESPN and HBO. Not sure what else to do, I guess I'm outta luck until I can get Comcast out here.

Hey Glenn,
Did comcast reset the box remotely? I had the exact problem you describe and that fixed it.
If it doesn't and there is a long wait until Comcast can get there, you can still watch HD with the YPbPr hook up. Those cables should have been provived with the converter box.

GGB, any luck yet? The problem is almost certainly with the box.
If you haven't tried already, refresh the box. I think you can do it by holding the power button in until the box goes into "boot" mode (if will say "boot" on the digital display on the front of the box when you've held it long enough. After that, just wait until the display is showing the correct time before turning it back on and the channels should be there when you go back in.
If that doesn't work, call them. You probably either have a defective box or they need to make some changes remotely.
