Be Easy - Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings 10-31-06 Hammerstein Ballroom NYC

She's the female James Brown, and the Dpa Kings are the most kick-ass retro funk/soul band alive today.

You can download the .mp3 here:http://www.mediafire.com/?exw5xmymjzn

Caught my 5 year old son doin' his thing while "What's Going On" was playing.

A proud day for Daddy.

My 1 year old sings(?) along to the Von Bondies and Blur, so who knows.

Me? "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck always makes the day better. Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros make me work harder. And Tom Waits makes me wonder why I stopped drinking.

When I woke up, still drunk from the Eagles-Titans game in a Munich airport. I went straight from the Linc to my flight and drank to forget. I looked so bad, they made me go through the "thorough" search before I could board my flight to Stockholm.

What little hospitality skills the German people possess is not wasted on their Security Personnel.

For Keith Byars and any fans of McCoy Tyner:

John Coltrane Quartet plays Afro Blue on YouTube

Quite possibly the greatest band of all time.

With the exception of a few old favorite rock albums, I almost exclusively listen to country music.

I'm in the 50 percentile range in terms of recognizing KBs lists. I'm not even talking about the songs, but the bands.

I used to be hip. Eh, maybe not.

Steve Jobs wasn't kidding when he said the iPod revolutionized the music industry. The days of listening to an album are dead. As a result, the days of bands trying to create an epic album are dead.

I think it all depends on the ipod. I have the 60 gig, so I listen to whole albums all the time. But if you have the 1 gig, you're more limited.

I may not even hit 50% on recognizing KB's lists. And my slugging percentage is probably less than that.

And I am in whatever percentile that thinks Wilco is f'ing terrible and all the critics that so adore them are on crack.

Have you heard all their stuff, GGB?

My girlfriend hates them, too. But she came with me to watch them play for almost 3 hours.
