And it's queer, get over it!
http://www.phillypride.org/gayborhood.html
Politicians, leaders of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community, and residents of the neighborhood around 13th and Locust Streets dedicated 36 new street signs decorated with the symbolic rainbow flag to officially designate the “Gayborhood” in Center City on Wednesday afternoon.

What of the rights of those who (KB) live there and aren't Gay (I realize a huge leap of faith here by me)??
What of their rights on this matter?

Complaining about your rights in this situation would be like moving to Compton and then bitching about the violence.

Oh, im sure its all good with KB, and ya know fellas, havin an issue with the street signs doesnt nesecarily make you a gay basher etc.
Just dont want my property value associated with the "Gayborhood" should I decide to sell it at some point, kinda could really limit the market your house appeals to, lowering your value by way of far less interested buyers.

KB- only if you move in post rainbow signs being affixed to street signs.
For those living there NOW, well, see my last post- they're potentially takin a hit when attemptin to sell.

" I assumed KB was leading the charge in their favor."
It's actually a task force, including myself, Gillick (a close gaybor!), and Bruce Villanche

I don't think the street signs are going to lower the value. It's the trannies yelling at 3 AM that will.
Nobody that lives there now doesn't know what neighborhood they're in. These signs don't change anything. There's already rainbows all over the place

BTW, no property in Center City is ever going to be lowered. They are selling for small fortunes, these signs will do nothing to lessen that.

Wasn't it already discussed in here that Philly is one of the leading rainbow friendly cities in the country?

That was one of the first questions I asked when i was going through my most recent house search.
"So...we're looking for a quiet neighborhood. Are there are traffic noise or mixed-gender screaming issues?"

It's times like these that I almost become fully convinced that Cho Seung-Hui was a man far, far ahead of his time.

I don't live there, but the consensus at my bathhouse was that it'll be great for tourism.

Seth, that's a joke, right?
I mean, it's a known fact that when the gays move to your neighborhood, the property value skyrockets.
For example, take a look at...say...every major city in North America.

Talon- I honestly wasnt kidding, but cop to not having heard that about prop. value.
I just figured that there's plenty of families who wouldnt want to live in such a district.
NOW I GET that in this specific case, likely not a big "Family" mkt, center city, but the point remains, the precedent to just claim places "Gay Zones" cos of an abundance of em? I dunno man, I kinda think thats like the sidewalk evangelist to me- just SHOVIN STUFF DOWN PEOPLES THROATS, um, er...you know what I mean....

It's not really shoving down throats, or anything. It's like in South Philly with the Italian flags everywhere, same thing. That's just who happens to live there, that's all.
