I don't know how many games he cost them. I think his style was perfect for the team, much like Fregosi's was with the '93 team.

But, I also think complaining about a baseball manager is like complaining about an airline pilot.

Yeah, I'm crazy as a silver fox.

No shit, they need pitching. Everybody has been saying that forever (see 1983).

Keep them back from winning 85-90 games the next few years... No The NL sucks.

They'll win in spite of Charlie or the Phillies ownership. They got too much talent in the lineup and some pitching prospects talent to let that happen.

Keep them back from advancing in the playoffs or winning in the NLCS... Yes

Phillies will never win a World Series with Uncle fkn Charlie as the manager.

That was my point and that is why if they are serious about winning on the next level Uncle Charlie should not have gotten his new contract.

Let's see how the Phillies do next year when every team is gunning for them.

The bar has been raised and I doubt if the Phillies and their typical outdated / bullshit moves will be able to keep the curernt pace in MLB.

The next division championship will be in 2022.

At least when you go to the money pit next year everyone can see that Eastern Division flag flying over the outfield stands.

It's kinda funny - with arguments about letting Reid go, the "con's" are that there's a chance someone comes in and does a worse job. I think that's truer here than with the Birds. Yes, Cholly's not the sharpest knife in the drawer at key situations, but we've seen how this team responds to other forms of motivation, and they really play hard for this guy. I don't know if any other manager has the same effect as Manuel does here. In fact, the fact that the media can't stand him only seems to rally the troops more around him.

It's useless to argue his effect, especially since his allegedly -5 games is countered by the way he gets this team going, and there were smarter choices out there, but will they get this team going like he does?

You just can't tell with this team.

Well, section, if the Phils are serious about winning, maybe they'll go after Connie Mack for you.

Connie Mack... Sounds good to me.

I was thinking maybe Paul Owens.

Uncle Charlie will go down in history as the greatest Phils manager ever.

Actually the Phillies have plenty of talent.

They have some nice hitters, but the pitching is abysmal. Not sure what they can do about that.
