had to pull this topic from the clutches of an unworthy thread ...
when i was growing up in the in the burbs, there was a place in rosemont (near villanova) called F.W.O.T (fingers, wings and other things). their wings were merely excellent, their fingers divine. they literally melted in your mouth. i think they also had another location around penn, but i never went, so i cant vouch. sadly, this place has been closed for about ten years, but in high school, it was a place of great joy.
nowadays, when i'm in philly, the best place for wings i've come across is the flatrock bar in manayunk. excellent wings. on tuesdays, they have a 25 cent/wing deal. they happen to also have an insane beer selection.
great wings? tell me where...

The mecca is the Anchor Bar in Buffalo.
On long island there is a place called wellington's that is phenomenal. They have a bigger variety that Buffalo Wild Wings and have had the menu for 10 plus years.
Sorry I couldn' be of more local assistance to you all.

Like Uber, I too enjoy the occasional plate of super hot wings- and Starters indeed can provide them.
However, the Anchor Bar IS REALLY the best, been there couple of times, and id say the only place ive seen immitate em is a place here in DE who makes no claims to the contrary- they TELL You that they use that recipe:
Klondike Kates on Main St. on the U of DE campus.
My fav wings tho, are any 1 of the 4 or 5 varieties of sauce i make myself.
You shouldnt expect nuttin less.

At the risk of getting slammed, I really liked the wings at Reno Mahe's place. Before we moved, I would get at least 2 platters a week from them.

As far as chain places go:
Decent wings can be found at John Harvard's. But I have only had them in NY and don't know if the recipe changes regionally. I've always found ok wings at TGI Fridays.
Awful "wings"
1. Hooters
2. Outback
3. Applebees

Seth,
I didn't know that about Kate's wings, but I always loved them long before I experienced the Anchor bar.
Damn now I feel like going to Buffalo for some wings and a beef on weck!
Road trip anyone?

Aiello's on 26th(?) and 3rd Ave in Gramercy had some tasty wings. I enjoyed them on a weekly basis for about 4 years. The place was kinda dumpy and not where you wanna watch a game, but for delivery, an excellent option.

Wings from HELL
"He's got blood in that water, plus the ice, and it's just bacteria," the deliveryman said.
"He's endangering people lives," said the deliveryman, explaining why he came forward.
"It's horrible," said Drexel University food preparation expert Philip Handel, who said camera crews were looking at the perfect recipe for salmonella -- enough to make plenty of people sick to their stomach.
"There's lack of sanitation. There's no temperature control in there. Insect and pest control is absolutely lacking," Handel said.
Not completely lacking, Cahn reported. Cameras found fly bait on a rotting piece of chicken. And there was also a fly strip.
"The potential for contamination for that product is just huge -- absolutely incredible," Handel said.
"I had the runs for three days, couldn't keep nothing in my stomach," said Tammy Scurry, who said she got sick after eating a six-piece "wing-ding platter" from Quaulity Pizza on Torresdale Avenue.

Exactly. Wings are a dirty, filthy food. And Chicken is a dirty, filthy animal.
F Feathery Wings.
Bass, Starters is in Bethlehem, they have really good bands there in February, esp. when the temperature is below zero and Seth is still wearing shorts.

I don't know if I'll ever eat out again.
If that's not a clear cut case of terrorism then I don't know what is. Seriously, they should force feed the guy his own wings.

Wow, Buckets in Jenkintown. Awesome that it's still open - haven;t been there in years.
Fond memories of drinking underage there in the 80's. Got laid in the parking lot there after my 10 year HS reunion also.
Good times.
