What a tragedy. Saw last night that 10's of thousands had been evacuated to Qualcomm. It was apparently pandamonium and chaos there. Unsanitary conditions, rapes, violence, shortages, calls for federal help that went unheeded, etc, etc.

Oh, wait, no it wasn't nevermind. It was actually calm, orderly, able-bodied people all chipping in to help one another and distribute supplies, and the San Diego mayor admitting that the Red Cross usually handles these things but they took care of this on their own. I guess they will have to bus these people all around the country and we can expect and spike in crime in all those areas as well.

NTFF

Only on the level can a tragedy be threaded for the sole purpose of starting an argument.

But seriously, if San Diegens think they are to move into my neighborhood, hire my gardener, and fuel my local economy, they are sorely mistaken.

I can probably put the Mickelson family up for a week or two, provided Phil can use his contacts and get me on Pine Valley, Merion, and Aronomink.

Plus Amy's rent can be taken out in trade.

I'll make up the spare bedroom for Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, but I'm not doing their fucking laundry.

LT can stay in my basement also, then I can strategically loosen a step on the stairs when it counts most, as I don't own him in any league. Actually, I have been holding Turner in my biggest $$$ league, so careful moving that bed downstairs LT...

That's a good idea. I may send anthrax to Tom Brady

GGB the sad thing is that someone will make a case that the reason there wasn't the problems is because the Police, Fire, and Gov't dept's reacted quicker because?!?

A) it was a primarily white community...

B) The learned their lesson at the expense of New Orleans

C) because the community itself took it upon themselves to do what was needed

hhmmmm what do you think the response will be?!?

How about the communities of those being evactuated- are all "DOERS" and thats how they acheived that station in life, and for the blue collar communites they showed last nite- same thing- just not as much in the coffers.

But they arent lookin to blame anyone after they decide to sit put. They are SMART enuff to ROLL THE HELL OUTTA DODGE- and somethin tells me its a lot harder to leave a nice home and yard to preserve one's life, than a busted down shack with squalor all around but 3 cats that can't be displaced/replaced.

Show em how it's done SD.

I think we all know the real reasons it isn't a real problem in San Diego are:

1. They have places to go.

2. They had plenty of advance warning (fire doesn't spread quite as quickly as a biblical flood).

3. Money. These people have money, so it's just a different world. the number 1 concern of every displaced person in SD (if they have one) is what kind of pain it will be to deal with the insurance companies. In New Orleans, you have poor people. Some in legitimate crisis and other acting as poor people sometimes do...stupid. Let's face it, 75% of poor people are poor because they are dumb or make dumb choices.

I was typing my response before I saw yours, but this point is very similar to the one I posted after it.

It's an interesting theory.

On a side note how stupid do the people in New Orleans look now with the floodingthat is back simply because of 8 inches of rain...no hurricane just rain, they should have seen the signs and never tried to rebuild in the swamps...

I just love the continued blanket insinuations that if you're disenfranchised or poor, automatically you're dumb, lazy and a cat lover to boot...

Fred, are you telling me the difference between the fugees in NOLA and a degree in rocket science was lack of funding for college? Honestly?

There are exceptions to every rule and there might be a GIANT exception to this one (I suggested 25%), but that doesn't change the rule.

Agreed, K_B.

Anybody in the market for a beagle that needs to go in and out of the back door 25 times a day, sheds pretty heavily, flips out and literally starts whining and shaking during any electrical storm (and, recently discovered, when smoke alarms beep), flips out and barks tragically when left alone, and upon your return acts like you've been gone for 6 months, even if it's been only 30 minutes, and basically assaults you?

Other than that he's a great dog, Pack of smokes and a small Rumple and he's yours.
