Well, I know few out there bet the ponies, but the Breeders cup is tomorrow. The huge wild card is Lawyer Ron, who placed 9th last year but is now trained by Todd Pletcher...currently the favorite.

1 LAWYER RON (VELAZQUEZ) 5/2
2 STREET SENSE (BOREL) 3-1

3 ANY GIVEN SATURDAY (GOMEZ) 4-1
4 CURLIN (ALBARADO) 3-1

5 GEORGE WASHINGTON (KINANE) 20-1
6 AWESOME GEM (FLORES) 30-1
7 DIAMOND STRIPES (VELASQUEZ) 15-1
8 HARD SPUN (PINO) 8-1

9 TIAGO (SMITH) 12-1

Johnny Velazquez knows Monmouth like the back of his hand, so you can't sleep on Lawyer Ron. Honestly, I would have thrown him out otherwise. Gomez knows this track very well too.

Since Monmouth is my "home track" in the sense that it's the one I visit the most and bet on most frequently, I can tell you that it's a track that favors speed. There will be days at Monmouth where horses will go wire to wire in 1/2 the races.

With that said, I tend to believe that's mote a product of the competition than the track. You'll have a lot of cases where Pletcher (or someone like him) will run a horse down for 1 race and he's not coming down for the fresh air...

All that said, I think Hard spun has a chance to run off Lawyer Ron, I think Street Sense might have trouble closing in the muck.

I guess that leave Curlin standing, but I don't like the odds on him.

Anyone have any thoughts on the race?

Also, not sure if he has any mounts or not but if Stewart Elliot is much earlier in the day, feel free to bet against him frequently. He suck donkey balls (or at least he has since he rode Smarty Jones).

Lawyer Ron has had success on the wet track before. Leaning towards him for that reason alone.

Odds are awfully low for the Classic, if I make it to the Turf Club tomorrow I'll likely make a few plays on the "undercard" instead.

Kinda played out exactly as I expected, but I didn't cash a ticket.

Because the odds were so low, I basically took Curlin and spread him out in a bunch of exotics, but I didn't get the right combinations.

Curlin's a great horse and Lawyer Ron is a fraud. Street Sense's trainer should choke that jockey for guiding him to the rail, where there was a moat.

Curlin paid off at like 4-1 didn't he?

What a horse!

4-1 is about right, but that's a terrible payout.

I mean, in a race like that where there are 3 or 4 of the best horses out there running against each other, how can you make money on a 4-1 horse?

It would be easy enough for Curlin to lose, so you can't just drop G on him to win.
