Before any noobs ask, this is Call of Duty 4. More specifically, I'd be interested in comments on the PS/3 version.

Great graphics, sound and play...but, It doesn't come close to SOCOM in online setup, sever selection or strategy. It's a pure run and gun with small maps. It's fast, it's fun, but it's no SOCOM.

On the positive, if your a first person shooter fan you'll love it. I really like the off-line strategy missions. To me that more fun that the chaos of online.

PS-Online is "OPEN" mic only, and I hate that. You'll want to mute the mic system after playing 5 minutes.

Don't knock it till you've at least seen Edyta or Julianne dancing around in next to nothing.

Damn, IMS, that's what I was worried about.

Sounds like they went after the 13 yr. old gamer market, as opposed to the strategists amongst us.

As I figured, IGN game reviews appear to be spot on only for people with the patience of a 2 year old and the equivalent attention span.

Must be why KB swears by 'em.

And I don't swear by IGN. I look at their reviews, and a lot of other places. But now that I don't really buy games anymore, I don't look at any of them that much.

The online aspect is 80% of the game for me. I was hoping it was a next gen SOCOM. Sounds like it's actually Halo 3 with army men. Bleach!

I will say online is most fun when you have a group of six playing and it's team elimination. 3 on 3, or 4 on 4 are perfect for the map play online. Just stay away from the big rooms and you will like Sarge.
Plus, it does run at 60pfs online as well.

Halo 3's online is actually really good. i had the free gold membership for a month, and it great.

Looks like people who have Xbox like COD4 better. I think it's b/c PS3's online is up to the same standards as Xbox, yet

People who like Halo3 are usually different than those who like SOCOM. SOCOM involves quite a bit of strategy, communication, and planning, whereas Halo is just shoot, shoot shoot.

My cousin will probably pick it up, so I'll check it out at his place. In the meantime, you'll find me online with So-crack.

Not true, sarge. Plenty of planning in Halo 3. I love SOCOM as well.

Again, i think it has more to do with Sony's online as it is now, more than anything.

Just going off what IMS said, and other PS3 people are saying.

I can honestly tell you the people who shoot, shoot, shoot in Halo usually end up dead first, second, and third, at least against a team of higher level players.
