When you guys wear a tie, do you always have the tip touch the belt buckle?
Now that I am tying bigger knots, I am having difficulty getting it to reach down there.
Suggestions?

It's justthat I've been to so many wedding recently that I've noticed a ton of "Don't"s and wanted to make sure I wasn't one of them.

Smaller knots or bigger tie.
Or a three-piece. Nobody will notice.

Yes. If your tie is the right length and you're tying it correctly this shouldn't be a problem unless you have some sort of freakishly long torso.

It's pretty much impossible to read a thread started by NEAG and not think that there is some sort of hidden agenda going on, but this one is a bit off the wall. Anywhere in the width of the belt is fine, but if you can't get it to touch your belt buckle and as thin as you are, perhaps you should stop shopping in the Boys section at Macy's.
And I am a tad disappointed, always figured you for the rare Northeast Corridor cat that could pull off the Bolo.

If I ever go to a wedding in Texas, I will wear one GGB.
Sometimes when I wear a Euro cut suit I actually prefer wearing the tie above the buckle.
Another question? Is there any reason for a man who is not morbidly obese to wear pleated pants? They look terrible.

I wear nothing but pleated pants, and I think flat front pants look like complete shit. I have two pairs of flat front pants hanging in my closet, freshly dry-cleaned and I can't even bring myself to wear them.

Glenn are you serious?
I think pleated pants make you look like a square. DO you wear tapered jeans too?

No, not even a big fan of jeans. I think flatfront pants look like shit, unless you are about 17 years old and modeling in one of the homorerotic catalogs like A&F or J Crew.

Some of my preference for pleated pants may be golf-driven, most pants and shorts sold as golf apparel TEND to have pleats. But regardless, I don't quite understand the hatred for them, I don't think they look that bad, though I must say I don't see why you guys feel so strongly about it either way.

I should state, I like the pleats to be very, very small. Not big, billowy things.

I could see why you'd want the extra room when swinging a golf club.
But I think the flat front better shows my bum as well as my package. I just feel more confident

I dunno, I never really gave it much thought. I did google "pleated pants" and saw an article in the Michigan Student Newspaper from 2004 calling pleated pants a "fashion don't". But I think my days of taking fashion tips from college newspapers are well in the past. I don't even think of pleated pants as really having any more "room", I just think the flat front looks a little goofy in most pants I've seen. I did google some pics of Tiger in some flatfront pants that looked Ok. But I guess it helps to have an entire company at your disposal to custom-make clothes for you.

My preference for pleats also may stem from preferring to carry a cell phone and pack of smokes in my front pockets.

Don't like pleated pants, but I can't go with the big knot yet.
I do have a freakishly long torso and I don't currently own a tie capable of both featuring a large knot and not making me look like I got it from the kids section of JC Penny.
