I would hope that we've all heard of Etta James, though I'm not holding my breath that f-d has.

NTFF! Of course I've never heard of her and based on that link, I don't even know if she's black or white.

Did you read the article? It clearly said she was black:

Etta James was born Jamesetta Hawkins in Los Angeles to a teen mother and unknown father.

A) That song is my wedding song.

B) NTFF to Neag.

C) I am shocked and saddened that Dino listed flesh as more likely to know of a 73 year old performer than Seth or myself.

D) RIP.

Captain Beefheart or Don Kirshner

My guesses on those two are a professional wrestler and someone you went to high school with.

Kirshner was local, no? Cause I have never heard of him. But I absolutely heard of Captain Beefheart. But in this kinda way:

Person X: "GGB, ever heard of Captain Beefheart"

GGB: "Sure, some cat whose first or early album is always mentioned as one of the all-time greats on lists in Rolling Stone and shit, but I can't say I've ever heard it before, think it's probably brutal, and he looks crazier than a shithouse rat, so I'll pass".

Kirshner was not local - he hosted a nationally broadcast network late night show, among other things.

OK, syndicated (not network) but definitely national. And check out the partial list of performers - it's like a who's who of that era in music (70's-early '80's)
