I understand they are about to approve this package which would essentially result in a check mailed out to every American household and I understand there are a number of business tax breaks, but does anyone have any idea how much we're going to get?

I've heard $600 for individuals, $1,200 for households. I've heard it starts at $300 with $800 for dual income households under $150K and up to $1200 including credits for children.

Does anyone have any idea what it's actually going to be or it just too early to know?

Finally, this stimulus package is a big crock of shit either way, because giving someone $300 isn't exactly changing their lifestyle. My cable bill is over $200. The government is paying my cable for 45 days.

Depends how people use it. If you are stupid and save it or pay down debt you are Unpatriotic. If you fritter it away on electronics or strippers then you are a true American Hero.

If this won't help the economy then I suppose you guys are in favor of a tax INCREASE? Then I suppose that would not hurt it either? This will help the economy a bit,get some money flowing to the little guys, that might help roll up to the bigger guys.


Probably won't make a huge difference but in an election year it gets passed.

But will it even bump the economy in the short term? It should improve confidence on Wall Street (maybe), but I'd be shocked if it even made a dent in the real consumer driven economy.

People are in the mess that they're in now because some of the lack fiscal responsibility.

Giving them a fish without teaching them to be a fisherman isn't exactly smart.

They need to lower taxes and decrease spending. Getting out of Iraq would help in that regard.
