Taking a family trip to the Franklin Institute tomorrow. I don't really want to drive all the way in so I'm considering taking the Broad Street Line and getting off at Race/Vine.
That's only a few blocks and a walkable distance to the Franklin Institute right?
Or is this just a retarded idea and I should drive all the way in?
Looking for advice. Thanks.

It's about 7 blocks. And you have to navigate around Logan Circle. If you come fairly early there should be open meter parking nearby.

Star Wars Expo?
I would take the train in and walk over to the Institute. In that area parking is a joke. You will either have to pay out the wazoo at one of the garages/lots or press your luck with street parking.

I was there about 6 months ago. The parking garage is reasonable and very easy to get to and out of. It puts you directly under the institute so you might want to consider it.

Yeah you could walk from there, like 5 or 6 blocks.

sorry Zak. Nothing blows more than taking time out of family day to keep feeding the meter every 2-3 hrs. Also who carries $20 in change around anyway? Save yourself the trouble of appearing on a episode of Parking Wars and just train it.

Yeah, the Star Wars Exhibit. My son is a Star Wars junkie.
That's another thing to consider, I'll have two kids in tow... 9 and 8 years old.
Am I kidding myself to think they could make the walk?

Agreed Hulk but I guess I should have qualified my advice by saying 'it depends on how long you stay'.

** GEEK ALERT** Cool. Myself and a bunch of friends are probably going up there as well. Not sure if we are going tommorow though. The walk is not that bad, but you can take a cab for a few bucks if they get too tired or too cold.

You could always catch the Regional Rail and get off at Surburban Station, which is a bit closer. Or you could get off at City Hall and walk from there.
But really, the difference is somewhat small from B&V, so if you're gonna walk, you're gonna walk.

I think the train/walk plan is what we'll do. Besides it will give me a chance to find a place for food and beer afterward.
Thanks guys.

It looks like I could take the R7 from Trenton to Suburban station and then catch the Broad St line from near there. Does that sound right?

If you're at SS, you might as well walk up the 3-4 blocks to the FI - you'd be walking away to get to the Orange Line.

Who knew you had to buy tickets in advance for the friggin' Franklin Institute?
Luckily we aborted our trip. We'll give it another go in March... hopefully the swell of patrons will subside by then too.

Come on, it was opening day. You had to know every Star War geek would be there dressed in full garb. I assumed you had your tix in advance, otherwise I would have warned you.
