"You're obliged to pretend respect for people and institutions you think absurd. You live attached in a cowardly fashion to moral and social conventions you despise, condemn, and know lack all foundation. It is that permanent contradiction between your ideas and desires and all the dead formalities and vain pretenses of your civilization which makes you sad, troubled and unbalanced. In that intolerable conflict you lose all joy of life and all feeling of personality, because at every moment they suppress and restrain and check the free play of your powers. That's the poisoned and mortal wound of the civilized world."

my gym just put a poster up in the locker room. It is an ad for some Animalpak supplement crap, but the message is awesome (I will admit they stole part of it from Yoda, but that is probably why I like it) :

The Warrior awakens before the sun rises. To the Warrior, there's only one goal in life: To be stronger than the previous day. This means he must battle complacency and inner weakness. The Warrior must first win the struggle taking place within himself. The, he must overcome every external adversity that is presented before him. All of these adversities become battles within the larger war.

To win this war, the Warrior must reach deep down inside himself and find out what he's truly made of. A warrior does not say, "I will try." A warrior says, "I will do". No excuses. No regrets. No failures. If you live a life where you put limits upon yourself, you might as well be dead. Never accept mediocrity. To live, you must kill these self-imposed limits.

If that doesn't get the blood pumpin', I don't know what will!

1 member went 'clean' cold turkey, was doin pretty good, but had pious attitude and band duct taped him down to a chair and shot him up with Heroin to fix his red wagon, and get him off officially off his own wagon.

Well a quick look at Wiki for both Duff and Izzy both reference HEAVY Drug use by the band and battles with sobriety etc as reasons for departure and in Izzy's case, not traveling with the band towards the end.

Niether entry cites the incident i remember hearing about vividly back in the day.

Wasn't Izzy the one that had the pet alligator then flushed it down the toilet and it became a huge menace in the NYC sewers, and then met his end that night he and his girlfriend's car broke down and he went to find help but she found him the next day strung up on the tree scratching at the window?
