"WikiLeaks' Julian Assange complains he's victim of leaks"
I also enjoyed this gem:
He said WikiLeaks had received "tremendous" public support, even when he was in jail.
"I was handed a card by one of my black prison guards. It said, 'I only have two heroes in the world: Dr. (Martin Luther) King, and you,'" he told the newspaper. "That is representative of 50 percent of people."

Level lightened.
If Wikileaks was taken over by a non-dickbag, I think I'd be much more strongly in favor of it.
Also love the article in the Guardian with the leaked reports... basically amounts to two women saying "yeah he sort of raped me, and even worse he was a lousy screw".

So fucking true. It's hard to jump to the defense of such an obvious asshat.

I can see where they are going with it and considering how much money they could lose with an average to bad review, I'd want to protect my business too if I were him. Posting it though could be considered too far.

I kind of like it.
Some of the restaurant reviewers are straight up assholes. You can say the food wasn't exceptional or you didn't like this/that, but if you want to be a dick about, go fuck yourself...that's what I say.

They have to be juuuust a little more florid than "this dish was good, but stay away from this one."
Sounds like the owner was scared his food might suck. Or that after her waiting 45 mins (assuming it wasn't intentional) he knew she would give him a bad review anyway.
He still looks like a petty asshole.

I dunno, SZR, I actually might side slightly in the owner's favor here. It's extreme, but a lot of these food critics effectively act like anonymous terrorists to the local restaurant scene. I mean taste is an indvidual thing and a bad review can really hurt a restaurant.

Good for the owner!
Restaurant critics are like movie critics. Over-inflated opinions of themselves that only idiots listen to.

Gosh, you make it seem like critics are "out to get" people rather than just offering their honest opinions. A bad review can hurt but can't a good review help? I'm not familiar with her in particular but as long as ALL her reviews aren't cruel and she can back up her opinions with well-written insight, then I don't see the harm. Obviously taste is an individual thing but there are other aspects of a dining experience that people seek commentary. Throwing out a critic makes it look like you have something to hide.

I see your point Zak, but I'm sure it's a bit deeper than that. Say the owner knows someone who had a bad review, and wants to stick it to the critic? Maybe it was a busy night, the critic had been waiting a long time and figured the best way around getting a bad review is to boot her so they can't really review with that frustration going on? Or, on top of that, it creates any review by her on that place to be construed now as biased against them because of the previous boot, even if she is able to get in.
From the review I posted, she's definately not a "food is good, try the veal" kinda critic, but definately has at least a modest air of self importance.

Maybe, but if the food or restaurant sucks, it's not as though they are going to be able to keep that under wraps for very long.
I dislike critics, generally, but don't care one way or the other. I don't know anything about this broad, the restaurant, the owner, etc.
I just look at food critics who really tear up restaurants as posers. They don't have the talent or balls to do it themselves, but they have no problem telling everyone else what they do wrong.

In that case, SZR, don't you think that people/customers often have very unfair impressions of a dining experience? I am not saying critics don't have the expertise to evaluate these types of things, just that they maybe wield a little too much influence and I can at least sympathize with what that restaurant owner's predicament.

No,
They are out to get people to read their columns. bad reviews sell.
The good reviews they sprinkle in are usually as a favor to people they know in the business.
