Anyone take their kids to see this yet?

My question is:
Would it be in your take, inappropriate to take a 5 yr old girl?
She really wants to see it, but I know little about this.

She's very mature, good attention span etc and likes "darker" things & fantasy themed things (Bettlejuice, Nightmare before Xmas, Corpse Bride, Batman Begins etc) but I dont know what the deal is here with this flick.

Could be like "The Neverending Story" or it could be like The Golden Compass- which was summarily denied.

I realize I could "Wiki" it, but I would rather know who's recommendin the film (in as much as you can on a fan site) than some random person who may not be as sensitive to what my daughter sees.

Any help is appreciated.

I took my 9 year old daughter. It was a very good movie. Some things will probably fly over your daughter's head, but based on your description of her, she sounds like she would enjoy it. It is not gruesome, there in no foul language, and the fighting scenes, IMO, were geared toward a younger audience. There will be scenes that will make her jump, but they should not terrify her or cause nightmares, if that is your concern.

My daughter read the books and was able to explain the differences, but she thought the changes were pretty good.

I hope this helps.

Well Seth, if movies take all the threads like you want them to, there won't be anything left for other things like the Phillies and racially charged topics. I'm not trying to be deragotory, but this will be imdb.

The idea has merit - perhaps not for every film, but like SzR replied- certain films. The thread I put out there re: S.C's wasnt intended to spark debate, discussion, disection. I was literally asking what other parents thought of the flick, as Im leery to take her to see something thats either got bad content or scary.

If i had started a thread on GBG, it woulda gotten a lot of use, and I wouldnt have had to go back 3 pages and sift thru other mindless shiat, before knowing what everyone else thought of it.

I think that, if 10 posts in, you are still debating the merit of a thread's existence, well, I think you have your answer.

I think that 1 post total was me defining the purpose for said thread.

And you cant look away.

This thread served its intended purpose for me as I got the answer I wanted in a timely manner.

If people can put threads out here regarding how to unload Ryders Cup tickets on ebay, end up not making the killing that thought and told others they would, and ended up possibly having to unload em to a friend for a fraction of what they initially thought theyd make- that coulda been put in the "Lighten up the Level" thread rather than get its own thread..but you got the info you wanted in a timely manner so, well, you know....
