well, just got the shot. have my nephew's 3rd birthday party in a few weeks, so i felt precautions were necessary.

here's a note to new parents: please spare your childless friends and relatives from having to attend these germ-riddled, alcohol-free, 11 in the morning nightmares. we hate children, that's we don't have them. the idea spending 2 hours with 25 of them and their insufferable parents, packed into some tim burtoneque gymboree hell-scape is just too horrifying for words. seriously, our attendance is absolutely ridiculous.

Flesh, I didn't invite a couple close friends to the boy's birthday because of just that. One of them initially felt bent but when I described it would be a bunch of kids games, college football would be opted out for a random disney movie, no smoking and no booze, he quickly understood. The other I didn't invite because he and his wife have been holding out on having kids while they get their finances in order and she has been giving him a hard time for years about it, and I really didn't want them to fight over coming and starting that conversation for them again.

i haven't been to any that were, but unless you're trashy you're not having more than a couple beers at a kids party

Well I guess it's more common to be invited to a family party, that's the ticket.

Also like to tie one on at baptisms and first communion parties

Ours was not alcoholic because it's from 12PM to 2PM and it's supposed to be about the kids, the oldest who was 5. Besides I don't drink beer (and I'm taking KB's advice on the clear liquids post labor day) and didn't want to accidentally Applebee's some kid's drink.

Lyte, it's important to offer your guests the opportunity.

If you host a kids party in your home and invite people you typically drink with, you provide some form of alcohol and let them sort out the designated drivers. If you host that party at a remote, kid-friendly location than you skip the alcohol.

Pretty simple, fellas.

neag, some kids' parties can be geared for adults, but not the ones i'm talking about. awkward, late morning start time, lots of really young kids, a lot of people who don't really know each other that well, and some kind of themed indoor space. not really alcohol appropriate.
