for god's sake, quit asking kb what you can drink. you live in LA, i don't think the normal before/after labor day drinking parameters even apply.

Jules,

I have a question about an old injury that bothers me from time to time. After looking up the diagram of the foot, I have learned:

a long time ago I broke the first sesamoid on my left foot while snatching a rebound off the glass and jamming my big toe on the pavement when I finally came back down to earth.

At the time, I was told (by my father) to "walk it off" because there wasn't much doctors could do for that type of injury. Is that true because of the small size of the bones in that area? I only thought about it now because while not disabling, it still sometimes bothers me to this day when breaking in new shoes.

not sure if it was intentional, but this is one of the funniest things you've ever written, fred. it captures you perfectly.

not kidding, good stuff.

ntf, i think it's only fair that i take her since i think the cost of the tickets is roughly equivalent to a flight to hawaii.

now, if you want in on the gene ween @ brooklyn bowl tickets i'm about to order, that we can do.

I hope you measure the value of everything in "flights to Hawaii" currency. For example:

Person: Flesh, I like your vintage looking _________. How much was it?

Flesh: 1/2 Flights to Hawaii, but well worth it.

Not much to do now, Fred. You might have some early arthritis from that injury because it is a focal critical area for weight bearing in the foot. I'll ask an ortho guy next time I'm working trauma (tomorrow).

The good news is that it is not as incapacitating or as lifestyle altering as having degenerative changes in other joints.

The problem is that for sports, it is a pretty important location.

Yeah, I never was able to throw it down from the foul line after that. But it healed up nicely except for it sorta resembles a bunion at that joint.

I just wondered there was some sort of procedure to shave down the bone, so that it doesn't protrude so much. Dress shoes that aren't a size too big are pure agony.

i certainly will, dino. i'm more excited to write about it on the level than actually go.

seriously, because of the combo of the seats, the venue and the performer, i can honestly say i've never been more psyched to attend a live show of any kind. i have to hand it to my wife, she hooked it up but good.
