Fred, they DO shave them. My personal feeling is that if you can avoid any procedure do so. If it is a nuisance, then I'd say see an orthopod.

I didn't run into my buddy yesterday.

NEAG, the most gruesome thing was a "degloving" injury of the face.....essentially, the face is ripped off the muscle and bone. We could peal the skin back from the person's face (but from one side and not completely - before you ask). That made me pause and force me to collect myself.

There was one instance, where they were doing a procedure on a patient who has an AVM (like Patterson but in the lung), blood was spraying everywhere. It really looked like a scene from a crime scene from Dexter.

It took me a while to get over open fractures (where the bone protrudes from the skin). That's like what was in No Country For Old Men at the end.

People who work close to mills where there are large shredders or graters.....those injuries are really gruesome.

Thanks, Jules.

What would you say the odds of Glenn suffering an MI during this Tough Mudder event are?

Jules, would you say Fred's recent postings have been more Dissociative disorder, Dementia, Bi-Polar, Mental retardation, or something else I'm missing?

"What would you say the odds of Glenn suffering an MI during this Tough Mudder event are?"

Answer is now offially, "None". Survived and have an orange head band to show for it. Only skipped one obstacle but I had no shot at it and saw two dudes break their ankles in the 10 minutes we were at that one.

3 friends/teammates. I don't know how dudes do it solo but it seems there were a few, you are VERY hardcore or totally reliant upon strangers, which is strongly encouaged throughout but no guarntee someone will be there just when you need it most.

We did it in just a tick over 4 hours.

Jules, I'm having a sharp pain when I swallow liquids (but oddly not solids) like hot coffee or tea and cold water or milk. The pain seems to be either near my Thyroid Cartilage or my Hyoid bone (I'm not sure which one, it's the more prominent one in my neck) but the pain is inside, not on my neck.

How long do I have to live?

Mmm, correction hot coffee/tea not painful like the day before but cold beverages (and dry swallowing apparently) still bring a small sharp pain.

Should I go to the ER now?

Jules I have to get my tonsils out.

In my case, should I see an ENT or a gynecologist?

I like the fact that it's your icebreaker "My mouth is a dick garage, but seriously..."

In my experience with tonsil removal, you'll need ice cream, GI Joe's, and a gameboy. You'll also make a trivet out of beads in the craft room at the end of your hospital wing.

Why would they remove your tonsils at an adult age? It is very uncommon since you are not at risk of a compromised airway.

Painkillers can be given IV, IM, and via transdermal patches. There are plenty of alternatives if he can't swallow a pill.

If your question is whether or not you should see an ENT vs a GYN for tonsillectomy, then I'd have to strongly suggest the ENT to avoid the long, uncomfortable pause that likely accompanies signing in for the appointment.

"Yes, I'm a new patient and I'm here to see Dr. Gyn for my preop tonsillectomy."

You could make a comedy variety show with these types of absurd encounters, NEAG. I'd recommend an HD camcorder and an entourage to make it seem artistic.

On a separate note, I wasn't aware there are different procedures for this as an adult. Undoubtedly, it is easier for kids. Assuming you are serious (which I'm uncertain that you are), is your question one of choosing between different procedures?

If you are serious, NEAG....I do apologize for making light of the situation. Your opening question met criteria for NTFF and that definitely threw me off.
