I AM LEGEND;

Hated this film.
I am usually great at suspending disbelief.
That said- this thing was a wreck.
Almost Boring. No, it was boring.

F4F- "The bridge was boring".
There's usually not a lot of excitement when dealing with real life people who are for 1 reason or another, willing to off themselves.

However, I think I know what you meant.

"the bridge" - i guess i would have liked it to be more about the connection to the bridge and the city itself, instead of simply case histories of suicidal people who happened to jump of the bridge.

I thought it was good too, I actually was aware of it when it was on a limited run in theaters and couldn't wait for the DVD to come out. Actually had a friend over when it came out about a year ago and we made a night of it. I could watch people jump off that bridge all night long.

I think it would be a Dream Job to sit up on the bridge and try to "counsel" people and convincing them that what they are about to do is really the best for all people involved.

I like how he has to use a contact in Dallas to get a Retail Store Manager job. When he lives in San Francisco. And they are going to fly him out there. NTFF. But he "can do that shit with his eyes closed". Right. So can most people, add in drunk and while reading a magazine. And that's why you weren't getting the position from 1,000 miles away, nor getting flown out to interview for it.

I looked up durin that movie to see what looked like Joey Ramone doin a backwards Nestea Plunge off the bridge.

Peace out, Ugly.

Watched a Documentary last nite called Crazy Love.

Its of a story that had a good bit of news coverage in its day.

Here's a synopsis from rotten tomatos-

Dan Klores' CRAZY LOVE tells the astonishing story of the obsessive roller-coaster relationship of Burt and Linda Pugach, which shocked the nation during the summer of 1959. Burt, a 32 year-old married attorney and Linda, a beautiful, single 20 year-old girl living in the Bronx had a whirlwind romance, which culminated in a violent and psychologically complex set of actions that landed the pair's saga on the cover of endless newspapers and magazines. With the cooperation of the principles, Burt, now 79, and Linda, 68, Klores examines the human psyche and the concepts of love, obsession, insanity, hope and forgiveness. CRAZY LOVE recently had its world premiere at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and earned the Best Documentary award at the 2007 Santa Barbara Film Festival.

The link below is to the films official site.

I dont want to 'give it away' to anyone here who MAY want to see this (its not long).

Its pretty messed up, and by the synopsis (chose that one as there's no spoilers) I think you MAY be able to figure out the basic jist of the set up.

Id give it a "C+/B-".

I saw "Crazy Love" too. While I didn't think all that much of it, I agree it is a fascinating tabloid story, and it's probably best seen without knowing a lot of the details. I give it credit for the extensive research; they had a photograph of Burt and Linda to match every step of the story. You go from thinking Burt is the biggest asshole alive, to a "how could you" stance towards Linda. The shift is pretty jarring.

Yes, perfect summary of how it feels to watch this.

I would recommend it on that basis alone, that its so bizzarre- and some of the people involved are so ODD later on in life (Like the woman with the "gold" face make up????)

Like I said, a C+ but from a kinda twisted voyeur angle its worth a rental.

Saw and really liked Iron Man. Even though I've made my career in and around the comic book business, I'm not a reader, so I really knew next to nothing about the character. Die-hards might feel differently, but I really liked Downey as Stark and thought it was a very entertaining film. Yeah, a little cartoony in parts, but come on, it's a comic movie.

Trailers attached to this film:

The Spirit: Good ro bad, it looks exactly like Sin City in the preview. Used the music from The Untouchables for some reason. Only a teaser, but doesn't look overly compelling

The Incredible Hulk: Meh. Looks better than previous trailers and Edward Norton is a great actor, but still, looks VERY CGI to me.

Don't Mess With Zohan: Could there be a worse, less intriguing piece of crap?

Love Guru: Yes, there apparently can. It was embarrassingly bad and only the trailer.

Indiana Jones

Okay, so while I love the franchise (if you can count 2 out of 3. The second just seems like non-stop Kate Capshaw screaming so I haven't watched it in ages) and the character is one of filmdom's all time greats, I wasn't really expecting much from this one.

I was just hoping for enough plot line to keep it together, a mission that makes some sense, not too much corniness and/or cartoony action.

Pretty much get that. Nowhere near as solid as the first and third, not a complete dud either. Without spoilers, the plot line is pretty weak and the advent of CGI hurts this one more than helps. Indiana Jones is a great character and the stories involve him as the character getting in and out of predicaments. Leaning on the CGI just gives Spielberg/Lucas something to go to away from that. Would the original Raiders have been as compelling if they had the visual effects back then?

Overall, B-

Speaking of sequels, "Rocky Balboa" was even dumber than I anticipated. Dreck.

Anyone watch "Recount" on HBO?

Good but not better than 3...

3 was pretty damn high on the cheesy scale, but has some of the defining classic moments of the Rocky series.

I thought Rocky Balboa was pretty bad, too. Better than 5, but I don't think it was better than 3 or 4.

I seriously almost turned it off during the 45 minute tribute to Adriane around the city in the beginning.

I will watch "Zohan", by the way. It might not be good, but it should still have funny moments. The Love Guru just looks awful.

I think Mike Myers crossed over completely into that lame duck territory where he's only funny to people in their late 40's/early 50's sometime during the Austin Powers era. I cringe watching the previews and just can't believe this movie is going to be anything other than a massive, massive flop.

I just thought that Rocky 4 was a self directed tribute to his own body honestly- too oiled up, too many montages of him in vairous training sequences, just pathetic at the end with the idiot from S.Philly doin his part to end the cold war, I almost hated that flick.

Lotsa younger cats love that flick tho, so, I dunno.

I like Rocky on a very base and believable angle- not that I think "he' is "real" but i mean more of the actual "Character" we came to know in the 1st two films.

To me, the last installment (and this is certainly the last one) had a lot of that.
A 'full circle' aspect to the flick that really worked for me.

All that "LA Stuff" in Rocky 3- OUT.

Rocky 5 i think TRIED too hard to be what the last one was and it came off cheesy, contrived and if he had it to do over again i think he'd have scrapped the entire project.

Yes. I thought it was really well done, although why the hell would they have Dennis Leary do a fake Boston accent? His real one not believable enough??

I found nothing compelling about "Balboa". Mason Dixon was easily the most boring opponent he faced, the storyline with the son was weak, his motivation for boxing again (the beast inside me?) was not fleshed out, the actual fight had no suspense, his monologues (to the boxing commission and to his son) were pure velveeta though they were obviously supposed to be high emotional points, the subplot with the bartender and her son went nowhere, I could keep going but there's no point.

Usually I'm forgiving of the typical underdog sports story, and if done well, they are my all-time faves of any genre (see: Hoosiers, the first Rocky) but this was just so poorly written and executed that it did nothing to inspire where those other films did. It's a series that just did not need a reboot. Please, Sly, let it die.

"his motivation for boxing again (the beast inside me?) was not fleshed out"- SzR

Um, what the F do you think the first 42 minutes of the film were about my man?

And my reply isnt meant to sound derrogatory in the least.

I think from this last post of yours, and the other one, it seems that the fighting/boxing plays a far larger role for you than it does for me.

In fact, the actual boxing and all that goes with it (the opponents, the realisticness of them, the likelyhood he coulda won each one etc) are all background noise for me.

Like wallpaper.

Rocky isnt a set of boxing movies to me.

Its the story a man- who is a boxer by trade but thats just 1/8th the character.

Anyway, at least this explains why you disliked it and I really really enjoyed the final installment.
