If so, a quick re-cap ???

someone told me "the mist" was unwatchably bad. haven't seen it myself.

i saw recount and liked it. not over-the-top nor particularly partisan, which surprised me. and it may be odd, but i have always wanted to bang laura dern (she plays katherine harris).

Because she was the biggest shill for Bush during the 2000 election imaginable and came off like a complete retard.

Definite top five.

How the hell can a movie like that not seem dated 23 years later?

1985 still seems like the present day.

I know you're talking about the original and not the sequels, but I figured I'd bring it up while we're on the subject.

Just think, we're only 7 years away from Flying cars, hydrated pizza, Jaws 19, and hover boards.

There is one major inconsistancy in that movie. Doc gives Marty a 50 dollar bill to go to the Cafe 80's but then an advertisement comes up for a Flying Car for $40,000.

You're telling me that a 'Pepsi Perfect' costs 25 times what it does now but a car that freaking FLIES cost less than a Lexus or a Mercedes?

Time to cue up some movies - first one was National Treasure - Book of Secrets. Could think of worse things to do for 2 hours, and really, if you suspend disbelief when Cage's character figures out the twins, you can suspend it for the rest of the movie. A solid "meh".

Next up is "Sweeney Todd" and Stardust (which, I will admit, looked appealing to me and the wife when we saw the preview in Hollywood the other day).

No cable, no Netflix......y'all must think I'm some sort of square. Although the advantage of going to Hollywood these days is they give you stuff for renting.

He's fast approaching criminally unfunny status. I don't know if the times have changed and he's the same or if he's just been worse, but I actually get embarrassed for him when I see these spots and previews for his new movie.

bass,

If not having cable or netflix wasn't enough to show that you are behind the times, using a term like "square" has completely confirmed the fact that you are operating at a prehistoric level my friend.

Even more criminally unfunny is that they're seemingly putting together two more Shrek movies. YEESH

"The Man from Earth" - this a pretty low budget movie based on sci-fi writers Jerome Bixby's deathbed screen play, about a man who reveals to his friends, to their horror and disbelief, that though he appears 35, he is in fact 14,000 years, but normal in all other ways. The movie revolves around the ensuing group conversation as they try to figure out if he is crazy, a liar, or possibly telling the truth.

i won't give away the plot too much, other than to say a very thought-provoking movie and extremely interesting from a philosopical/religious point of view.

I have no idea how new or old this doc is, but I watched "Darkon" last week and it was truly horrific. It's basically a live action D&D type game where ordinary people get together in a big Marlyland State Park and live alternate lives. Some are there almost every day and I think there is a main gathering every 2 weeks with hundreds of participants. There are Kings, armies, different sects or groups vying for land, battles with armor/weapons covered in foam, it has its own monetary system, some alternate languages, etc., etc., etc.

It was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen.
