Going to see GI Joe Friday. I expect to be horribly horribly disappointed. And somehow I'll think more favorably than Transformers 2.

Fear not Bass.....I plan on going to see G.I Joe also.
It has one of the Wayans brothers in though so that alone has given me reason for pause.

Saw Public Enemies. It's really, really solid - won't change your life or anything but just a good two hours of entertainment. Bale and Depp are excellent.
You guys mentioned GI Joe, and I have to say the highlight of the evening was watching the trailer. Someone blows up the Eiffel Tower in this big, CGI-laden scene... then cut to the Pentagon, and some guy saying - without any hint of irony - "The French are gonna be pretty upset". Half the theatre cracked up.
So uh, yeah.... I may be avoiding that one.

Just watched the DVD "Harvard Beats Yale 29-29."
Now I'm older than most here (barring Dean-o of course) and I had never even heard of this game. But if you are a football fan on any level, WATCH THIS DOCUMENTARY. Really good flick.
Here's the trailer. link

OK, saw GI Joe.
Somewhat hokey plot? Check.
Predictable in some spots? Check.
Wussy lead actor? Check.
Despite that (and some mind-numbing plot devices), it wasn't as horrible as I'd originally thought. I'd say it had more of a cartoon feel, closer to the animated series. Somewhat entertaining, actually. There were some really cool visuals, like the underwater Cobra base and some of the weapons. All in all, not an endorsement, but considerably better than that mess (or so I've read) Transformers 2. And Marlon Wayans wasn't bad - he did a stronger job than the guy who did Duke, actually.
BTW, there were some people at the theater who dressed up as Cobra characters (Stormshadow, Baroness and Cobra Soldiers) who were posing with some of the movie goers. Not ME, of course (shut up Seth). Of course, we were ok, because we sat in front of some guys in military fatigues who actually WERE Army.

Supposedly, this is the fruits of what was supposed to be the Halo movie - Jackson and Co. got pissed at how M$ and other parties were posturing during production, so they quit and came up with this movie instead.
Does look interesting - more interesting than anything else this year, anyway.

If you read a plot summary, not only will your intelligence be insulted, but it will harken you back to an old Dennis Quaid/Louis Gossett Jr. flick "enemy Mine".
PASS.

I seem to hate movies anymore. Next to nothing gets me wantin to go to a flick, by the ads on TV etc.
As it stands now, I have to wait a yr for Burton's WONDERLAND, which I am very much eager to see.
Other than that?
meh.

Not a bad flick, but I'm still trying to recover from when Louis Gossett Jr. gave birth. That was wrong on a bunch of levels.

This is kinda related to moves, but have you heard about the new "Epix" premium movie channel?
I've been wondering why some random movies (like Cloverfield, Indiana Jones, and a few others) haven't been coming out on the normal pay channels, so I did some Googling.
Apparently, Epix is a new premium channel set to debut later this year that is run by a few studios and meant to cut out the middle men (HBO's of the world).
None of the cable companies or DirecTV want to carry it, but the stuidos will have exclusive rights to moves like the ones above, Benjamin Button, Transformers, etc., so you won;t be able to watch any of those movies unless you have Epix.
I think this might be the final straw for me. I used to just pay for all the premium channels and not worry about it since I justified it by saying I never go the theater, so this is my theater money.
If they are going to add another channel which currently isn't even available and will most likely add another $10 to $20 per month, I think I'm just going to cach it all in and get Netflix.
I would have done that long ago, but I really enjoy the original series on HBO and now Showtime...don't feel like waiting a year to watch them.
