GGB may I recommend a bridge.
The DMB twin span was always my favorite.
"I'm personally embarrassed," Leyland said, "and I would hope they are, too. They know we've been (awful). I can put on a big show, or the players can have a meeting, and it would read good in the paper. But it's all eyewash. I could rant and rave, but I don't really buy that with this team. There's too many professionals here.
"The fact of the matter is you come here as a team to beat somebody's butt. That's how you get out of it."

Phils web site is calling Jroll's injury an ankle sprain.
Lets hope that's all it is.
With their medical staffs history it's hard to trust anything they say.

I dont recall diagnosing anything- simply just guessed at what appears as of now to be the actual outcome.

And I'm not actually a doctor with a prognosis. It's called exaggerating, especially when it's wild guesses on a play you haven't seen.

here's my inside source (philly.com)
"NEW YORK - Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins left today's game in the eighth inning against the Mets with a sprained left ankle but said he hopes to play tomorrow.
"I could have stayed in the game, but that would not have made sense," Rollins said. "It wouldn't have been the right thing to do to help our team win."

Mets got Rick Rolled today, and the video on YouTube complete with booing and a fan saying "Hey! We're being Rick-Rolled!" is great.

No bridges necessary, Section. Yet. It's a long season, tough to win when you are doing as many things wrong as they are. RISP average foremost.

And there will be, you buffoon. Or are you still trying to work the Wes Helms trade lines and didn't notice that a slew of lifetime over .300 hitters are batting near .100?

Not really inside, Seth was out here expressing surprise that no other team had any interest in Helms not long ago. It's the classic "This guy stinks, let's trade him!" syndrome. Not unlike the "Gillick is terrible, we need pitching!" that fails to acknowledge that EVERYBODY needs pitching and the few teams that have it will make you pay dearly to obtain it, and the pitchers (Starters OR relievers) on the open market command a pretty penny with mixed results. So I was comparing that logic with that of declaring a team like the Tigers dead or dying at 0-7.

honestly, i'm not sure i see the connection between the two assertions. at all.
i guess your point are that both are the irrational rantings of ignorant fans, but they don't really connect logically.
calling out gillick is based on his very objectively questionable line of off season moves in the last couple of years.
calling out the tigers out for their poor start is just calling them out for a poor start. doesn't matter that they should be playing better or they probably will be playing better at some point.
just don't see the connection.

You are hard-headed, flesh. It's calling people out for the dumb things they say.
Like a baseball team loaded with talent starting out 0-7. Or about 1/23rd of the season. In football terms that's through 3 Quarters of the first game.

i realize that and said as much in my post, just seemed an overly broad way to connect the two assertions.
might have made more sense to comment on all the phillies fans (like me) who clamour "they stink" every time feliz swings 2-0.
and while we're at it, i don't like your football analogy, either. 3/4 through the first game still allows for the team to win said game. an announcer has never uttered a phrase like "down 34-14 going into the fourth quarter here in game one.. boomer, has a team ever made the playoffs after starting the season with such a poor 45 minutes of football?"
the tiger's 0-7 hole is, while certainly not insurmountable, nonetheless real.

EGGGGGZACTLY.
If it wasnt 'dumb' (your quote im still gettin a kick outta), it was funny in that it seemed like that you'd hear on WIP by the most ardent and unwashed philly fan- full of pride, hope, false bravado--- all of which you arent typically known for.
Thats a quasi compliment.
You're even keeled at every turn, except maybe the hour before a fantasy draft.
Thats why your quote was hilarious to me.
Not to mention- i never expressed astonishment, got a case of Easygoeritis?
I simply said that I guess he's on the block (when Pedro, whom id still vote for) was brought in- and said that Id guess his destination to be the Fish.

Well, I didn't say it out of blind hope, just that some of their numbers are so absurdly low (Cabrera's BA, Maggs RISP, Polanco's BA), that as they move toward the numbers they eventually finish with there are gonna be some runs put up on the board.
Flesh, the Giants started out 0-2 and the Yankees were 21-29 last May 29th. Those are kind of my main points. The team may not make the playoffs, I don't think anybody took that for granted, but with their roster they should be in the hunt come the time we are all flipping through useless FF rags and arguing about the uselessnes of preseason college football polls.
