"Uncle Charlie is getting ulcers from watching that shit."

Uncle CHARLIE deserves all the ulcers he gets for CONTINUING to allow Tom Gordon ANYWHERE within a mile of any pitching mounds ANYWHERE especially in clutch situations.

Chicklet

The Phillies left "Twenty Six" ROB today.

Don't think Gordo is the main reasons why they blew it this afternoon.

I don't expect Gordo to pitch like Steve Carlton but I do expect Chase to be able to make a throw to first base on a routine ground ball to "end the inning."

Like all teams you win as a team or you lose as a team. They lost today because of a "LOSING TEAM EFFORT.”

Going to be a long season of ups and downs but I still think this team wins the division again despite its current inconsistencies.

Bruntlett's slide into home was dirtbag city. Nice elbow to the back of the head, why not just f'ing slide you scrub.

No issues with the play at the plate.

Part of the job for a catcher.

You wanna cover the plate, take what comes.

Again, no issues.

Gordon got two outs and then three groundballs. On a list of people to blame yesterday, he might be fourth or fifth.

Id put him 4th.

But the disdain for Gordon expressed yesterday wasnt just about yesterday's game.
Its been a longtime Hate Affair with me and him.

Meyers

Utley's mess up NEAG mentioned.

Coste swingin at that BALL 4 that woulda walked in the tying run knottin it at 5 was atrocious.

Gordon.

A hook slide by Bruntlett would have missed the tag.

Many causes for that "L" but I will take a 5-4 road trip anytime.

Well, such is life as a catcher.

Clean hard baseball. The benefit to Molina is that he doesn't even have to tag him for the ump to give the out call, he just has to hold onto the ball with a broken neck. Kudos to him for doing so.

The only thing Brunlett did wrong was not score from, you know, SCORING POSITION on a line drive.

Howard AND Burrell with three-baggers tonight. Never thought I would type that.

My nitpick for the night is that I wish fans would get over this whole JD Drew thing. It was 11 years ago.

In fact, I am convinced the fans would have hated JD Drew if he played here, being that he's not 'blue-collar' and all (Because there is actually a such thing as a blue collar athlete. It's an oxymoron if I ever heard one)

The nonsense Burrell and Abreu had to put up with would be nothing compared to how much JD Drew would take, so he probably did a lot of people a favor by not signing here.

"Yankees lose Wang for at least 6 weeks."

Nowhere near as good as when Wang first came up and faced Dave Bush of Toronto in a game.

"Wang vs. Bush".

It is days like that make me deeply happy that I am not a Mets fan.

So they fire Randolph. No big surprise. But the way they do it proves once again that they just don’t get it. Only the Mets could take a guy whose head was being called for by fans since September and turn him into a sympathetic figure.

Took him on a west coast trip and fired him in the middle of the night after a win.

Un friggin real.

If I had any sympathy for the Mets, I'd wonder how an organization can do such a foolish move.

Sure, the guy was living on borrowed time anyway (and they really should've fired him at the end of last year), but leaving him out there? "Get your own plane ticket home"?

They should've canned him before or after, but not during. That's just wrong.

this may be the most infantile and moronic thing i have read in a while:

The Yankees' loss of their ace, Chien-Ming Wang, for up to 10 weeks prompted the team co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner to chastise the National League for playing without a designated hitter. "My only message is simple," Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. "The National League needs to join the 21st century. They need to grow up and join the 21st century." Steinbrenner said he was angry and added: "I've got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He's going to be out. I don't like that, and it's about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s." Making a rare appearance on the bases at an N.L. park in Houston on Sunday, Wang pulled up rounding third and hobbled home on a Derek Jeter single.

so, your multi-millionare elite athletes can't run the bases, but it's the national league's fault? got it, you fat windbag crybaby. we should probably get rid a few more of baseball's "1800's" relics, like grass fields and wooden bats.

we get it, hank. you're a tell-it-like-it-is maverick just like your daddy. how about instead, die.
