On a related note, Sable doesn't look too horrible.
TOO horrible.

I was more comparing him to Kimbo then I was arguing that he is a great MMA guy. Watch him on the ground in that fight. Compared to those skills, Kimbo was completely lost.
Oh, no doubt. I'm not comparing the two, really.
Lesnar has a much better chance because there are matches the UFC can make for him that will showcase what he does well (which is wrestle). I just don't think Lesnar will ever be a good UFC fighter, though he may win some big knockouts from time to time.
Honestly, the heavyweight division in the UFC is a joke anyway. Awful. Light heavyweight (and lower weight classes) have a lot of talent that could expose Lesnar badly, but I doubt any of them will take the fight.

Munch, most of the fighters who seem most disciplined without loss of form once fists fly are:
Spider Silva, Urlavsky (sp?) and Forrest Griffin (for example).

I thought one of Silva's specialties were the roundhouse kicks and backfists? Maybe I am mistaken.

There are several Silvas. And, while I'm not a fan at all of roundhouse anything since it is too telegraphed and good fighters should make the those who employ it pay everytime they do it; some folks are still (otherwise) sound fighters.

The guy I'm thinking of is the middleweight(?) champion. Just beat the shit out of Forrest Griffin(maybe last year or two?) From Brazil, I think? He is known for his off-balance attacks and odd angles, but he's freakin' deadly.

Do you mean Tito Ortiz? The guy I'm thinking of is Thiago Silva. There are two other Silvas on the UFC roster. All of those guys are pretty tough and generally sound fighters.
The point I was making, FB, was that I was just surprised by the product. EliteXC is like a farm league (which I kind of knew watching it on Showtime), so I shouldn't have been as critical in fairness to those fighters (not as if my ass wouldn't get kicked). UFC (and Pride) are considered the top two leagues for MMA. I think Pride was the dominant one (don't really know but been told) but that the best fighters have migrated to UFC. Several big names have threatened to defect from UFC. Who knows how it will play out.

Not Ortiz, Jules.
The guy I'm thinking of doesn't speak English- at least not well. Black gut, and he is/was the best in the game at least as recently as last year. Maybe I got his last name wrong, but he's a rangy, slim black dude from South America with a very unorthodox style, yet he's been devastating against some of the UFC's best. I thought his name was Silva.
I remember him being in a close match with this one dude, and then he pulls out a spinning backfist and just rocks the guy. I'm like, Whoa. This guy is serious.

No Munch, not him.
Who is the baddest guy pound for pound in UFC right now? That's what they were calling him when I used to watch on a regular basis.

Tito kicked Griffin's ass about a year or so ago. I don't think any Silva fought Griffin.

"Baddest" I would still go Lidell, wonderlei silva and Rampage in a three way tie. Assuming that Baddest means complete game with a likelyhood of knocking your ass out.
Pound for pound most likely to win in any style, I would go BJ Penn in a heartbeat.

Much, how is Lidell still the baddest? Rampage rocked his world.
Anyway, this is what I was talking about earlier, Jules.

Oh and Jules Thiago Silva is not "Spider Silva".
And here is the confusing part, Thiago's full name is Thiago Anderson Ramos Da Silva.
Spider silva is Anderson Silva who FB was talking about.
And then there is Wonderlei Silva who just whomped Keith Jarden (who beat both Lidell and Griffin).
And there is Tim Sylvia who Cotoure beat for the heavyweight title.
My brain hurts.

Right and Wonderlei Silva KO'd Rampage.
...and Lidell beat wonderlei and Randy Cotoure.
MMA is all about any given Saturday my brother.
That is one of the reasons I love it so much.
(Aside from the fact that the fans are low class lousy tippers!)

BTW Munch, I love Lidell- I couldn't believe he lost, but then when I heard it was to Rampage, I was like, oh, ok.
I remember first seeing Rampage in Pride with the chains on like the old school Junkyard Dog. I didn't even care if he could bang, I liked him. But then when you watched him go?
My favorite fighters would have to be Lidell, Jackson, Franklin, Spider Silva, and the "other" Silva get's props for whooping Crocop's ass

Id love to see a Level version of UFC.

Light HW UFC rocks, period.
