I guess we know what Obama has been up to since he's been relatively quiet lately.

f-d,
That's nothing different than what's been said/policy for years. It's event and/or condition based, not time based. It says they want certain conditions met at general, not specific, times in the future and the drawdown could continue if the condition is met.

I think it's a reach, bud.

Although I do agree that the whole "Talking to the enemy" policy he announced recently is totally against his previous policy and it's not like Iran redeemed themselves.

I didn't say it...Fox News did.

"The United States and Iraq have agreed to seek "a general time horizon" for deeper reductions in American combat troops in Iraq despite President Bush's once-inflexible opposition to talking about deadlines and timetables."

Sigh.

Pickens talks energy.

I love this guy's approach. Not either/or . . . do it all and break the dependence on foreign energy. Keep the funds for energy inside the US, develop our infrastucture, and rely on American ingenuity* for future energy advances.

I have a question. Is the satire of the New Yorker cover lost on it's readers? I seriously doubt it.

But if he's concerned about losing the hearts & minds of "blue-collar NASCAR Dads", he should more worried if he were satiruzed on the cover of JUGGS or Guns & Ammo.

And another thing. Obama's upset about being portrayed as a Muslim in a cartoon. But haven't we learned that Muslim's get very upset about being portrayed in cartoons (see link). Maybe to prove he isn't a Muslim he should just come out with a statement that he didn't think it was funny and move the Hell on.

I don't think the cartoon was too off on Michelle Obama. Looking at her past writings, and past comments, calling her "Militant", is not that far off. I think the whole love affair between the Obama's and Rev.wright was probably pursued and grown more by her than him.

Again, I have never seen ANYONE, run for President and bash this country like the Obama's. "I have never been proud of this Country"...MIchelle Obama. That will get you some satire of being anti-American. Maybe not the gun toting, camo type, but at home around the dinner table type.

Obama's upset about being portrayed as a Muslim in a cartoon.

I doubt if he's upset about being portrayed as a Muslim in a cartoon, F-d, other than the negative consequences that it would bring towards him winning the election- that and the fact that he's addressed the issue a million times, and some fools still believe that he is Muslim. He and his campaign may say that it is offensive, but their true goal is to nip the dumb shit in the bud before it gets life-- ala Rev Wright. Makes sense to me.

White House sends press corps al-Maliki praise for Obama plan
Posted: 05:31 PM ET

From CNN Correspondent Kathleen Koch

CRAWFORD, TX (CNN) – An embarrassing slip up for the White House press office Saturday, when an aide hit the wrong button and mistakenly sent to the news media a Reuters article saying Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki backs presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's troop withdrawal plan.

White House spokesman Scott Stanzel says, "It was a mistake. Clips list for staff was supposed to be the addressee."

The Obama campaign quickly took advantage of the mistake, forwarding an ABC report detailing the incident to its press list.

This is not the first time the White House has emailed in error. But its timing is particularly embarrassing as the Bush administration's recent agreement with al-Maliki on a "general time horizon" for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq is being cited by some as resembling Obama's proposal that U.S. forces should leave within 16 months.

It seems as though even the freakin' Iraqis know more about the candidates than some of us stupid Americans:

"Iraqis are mystified by Barack Obama. As he kicked off his tour of Europe and the Middle East—including a stop in Baghdad—this week, both leaders and ordinary people here were trying to size up the Democratic candidate. For many, opinions are distorted by decades of misinformation and years of post-war cynicism about American motives in general. If you ask unemployed, 34-year-old Uday Ahmed whether he views Obama as a Muslim, because his father was Muslim, or as a Christian, which is the candidate's religion, he answers: "I think he is Jewish."

Steve Sailer, a columnist for The American Conservative magazine, wrote last year that some whites who support Obama aren't driven primarily by a desire for change.

They want something else Obama offers them -- "White Guilt Repellent," he wrote.

"So many whites want to be able to say, 'I'm not one of them, those bad whites. ... Hey, I voted for a black guy for president,' " Sailer wrote.

Sailer cited another reason why many whites want Obama as president:

"They hope that when a black finally moves into the White House, it will prove to African-Americans, once and for all, that white animus isn't the cause of their troubles. All blacks have to do is to act like President Obama - and their problems will be over."

Interesting take on what it will be like if "a black" ends up in office.

Did his editor think "a colored" would have been too much?
