Good timing by Obamination on his flip flop on drilling.
Wait - didn't McCain do this exact same flip flop? Just asking.

Did John McCain vote against measuring off-shore reserves in 2005 or sponsor a bill in 2007 to eliminate the conducting of the inventory? Just asking.

When McCain changes his position, it's careful considertaion based on changing factors. When Obama does it, it's flip-flopping.
Keep up!
The one thing I'll say that's negative about Obama's change is he did blatently lie about it. Instead of saying "I was against it and i'm still against it in some ways, but with blah, blah, blah considered, I think we've reached a tipping point", he simply said "No, I always felt this way".

I can't take anything you say seriously when you keep calling him "Barry" or "Obamination." It makes you sound desperate, uninformed, and irrational.
It could just be me that finds your attempts to belittle him absurd. You probably even have some good points buried in there, but they're tough to dig out from under the howlermonkey-style screeching.

Politics of distraction, good job guys. Anyone want to defend his off-shore vote and sponsored bill or shall we continue with the outrage over using his childhood family nickname?

Obama's windfall tax idea is about as anti-capitalism as it gets. Here is Obama's plan "The tax would target “big oil to give families a thousand-dollar rebate,” an announcer in the ad says. Obama has pushed for such a tax to fund $1,000 emergency rebate checks for consumers besieged by high energy costs."
Um, does he not think the Oil company will recoup this cost by just adding it back into the price? So, because someone bought a smart stock, we are going to take money away form people who wee willing to invest there own money ins a free trade market?
Oil companies didn't set the price. The free MARKET set's the price. They will only sell gas, at the price people are willing to buy it for.
Good thing Obama wasn't around when Sir Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin. He would try to windfall tax him too.

Gotta agree with IMS here, anyone that votes for Obama based on some sense that he will bring gas prices down and/or go after the big oil companies should be given a ticket to Canada to ride back and forth on a bus till some cat randomly beheads and eats them.
I think it's funny that gas prices are dropping a bit though, let them fall all the way back to about $2.50/gallon and then we can all sit around and ask ourselves WTF we wasted all this time talking about it for.

Well, Obama COULD bring gas prices down. The main deal here is I think everyone understands the Oil companies aren't going to take a "windfall" tax. They get out of it somehow or they'll simply pass the cost onto the consumer. So, in effect, any rebate from the government would go right back to the oil companies.
However, if Obama is willing to open up the OCS for drilling, that would lower prices. Everyone is absolutely correct when they say we wouldn't get a thing out of the OCS for decades, BUT our willingness to go get our own oil scares the middle east. I'd be willing to bet that if we gave oil companies the authority to get going with that, oil prices would sink almost immediately. Part of the reason is they want us to stay hooked on foreign oil and they'll do their very best to lower prices to the point where it's cheaper to import theirs than drill our own.
When we refuse to drill, they have no incentive to lower prices.
Additionally, Obama could lower prices if he soothes tensions in the middle east.
The windfall tax with a rebate check would be a wash, but those second two elements could help gas prices.

You're absolutely right. I just think Obama saying it's a good idea to congress might get a different reception than McCain or Bush saying it.
I'm not saying that's right...just the way I feel. This congress has been extremely disappointing.

Kinda what I was guessing.
I would very much like to begin a new program of drilling the underage hostess that works at my new job here. I wonder if Congress can get working on a law that will both allow that and make my wife understand.

Officers Candidate School is where your boy Richard Gere was for "An Officer and a Gentleman", who's theme song was "Love Lift Us Up" or whatever, sung by some chick and Joe Cocker, I think.
