The ONLY problem with the Biden choice is that he makes pretty big gaffes when speaking to the public. He has derailed his own presidential aspirations within weeks of announcing his candidacy - TWICE. But he DOES know foreign policy and does understand nuance. Love the choice.

For once the vice president pick is important b/c of the possibility that the president will not live to see the end of his term, from either old age or a racist marksman.

The Biden's used to live up the street from me. His boys were the biggest drug dealers at Archmere High School. One of his boys caused a car accident in front of "Tim's Liquors" in Hockessin that killed a woman. People at the scene said he was drunk, but when the state Police showed up he was taken off and never given a breathalizer. I believe the Biden's settled out of court with the victims family. I believe this happened in the mid 80's

In keeping with what right, I was wrong with my info. I called my Dad, and get the full story.
It was Biden's first wife, daughter and one boy who were killed at that intersection by a Tractor Trailer.
His son did cause an non lethal, DUI accident that was swept under the rug. And I stand by his other kids being big time coke dealers at Archmere.

That's kinda funny, IMS. You, um, did get that story just a smidge off.
Biden is/was a member at the club I just quit a few weeks ago. Met him a couple times, I will confess that he is a real nice guy.

How can you supporters of BARACK like the Biden pick?
Biden=McCunt. Same dude. An old white guy that doesn't give a fvck about anything and has been a professional politician forever. I don't see how you run against somebody when you have his clone as your running mate.

What was staged, Glenn?
Since I don't speak "stupid", you're gonna have to dumb it down for me.
Do I think video from some reporter (who was staked out on Biden's front lawn) of Biden doing a 4 word drive by with two seconds of face time- do I think that Biden staged that himself for publicity?
Let me think about that for a few days weeks and I'll get back to you

IMS, I have been trying to figure out if you are making this up as you go along, or if you are like the kid in The Sixth Sense and can see things that the rest of us cannot.

As I look towards my financial future, I'm starting to dislike McCain less and less. I think he's going to ruin the long-term health of the US economy the same way Bush did. Basically, my position is that Bush has a decent chance of going down in history as the president that ended the American golden age and McCain is going to increase that chance.
My career is fairly recession-proof so I'm going to be making money through anything other than a complete collapse of our economy. A weak US economy just means that the investments I'm making over the next 5 years are going to be worth more when I inevitably retire to my future beach house.
The difference between the economic plans is that McCain's basically continues Bush's plan of siphoning as much wealth into as few hands as possible. This creates a fundamentally unsound economy and is a good predictor of a country's economic decline. Obama's plan is to strengthen the base of the economy and narrow the economic gap, which is a strategy that will bear long-term fruit, although a very small minority of people will suffer (here "suffer" means that they might have to sell one of those houses that they have that their staff keeps track of for them). This is the strategy that created the middle class and sustained them.
In addition, the Bush/McCain economic plan pulls wealth from future generations (in the form of skyrocketing debt) and again places it into the hands of the very few. I'm not sure why people think this is a good strategy, but it seems to be popular among the very people that get hurt the most by it.
Realistically, the winner of this election is going to determine what my 5 year plan is going to look like. If Obama wins, I'm investing in growth ... alternative energy, power companies, infrastructure, finance. If McCain wins, I'm buying up the wreckage of our future while it's cheap and starting to invest in foreign currency.
My analysis is that there are enough people like BMA (and I'm singling him out here because he's pretty representative of an increasing number of people, not because of any personal feelings towards him) to really influence the direction our country goes. I don't think this block of people is making sound long-term decisions and I think they're influenced by their emotions rather than by research, measurement, and reason. Furthermore, I think that these short-sighted decisions they make wind up worsening their situation, which seems to just drive them deeper into the kind of short-term thinking that got them there in the first place (this is why I think Bush might be the president that set the United States down a path towards "has-been" status).
Sorry for the long post, but I figured I'd throw that out there.

And "Urbans" will vote 98% Democratic and in 4 or 8 years will still be leading their WIC, Welfare, and Afternoon nap-laden lives.
In other news, the earth is round.

Perhaps. But Uber seems to put a lot more cause/effect to the health of the economy on Presidential Policy than I seem to recall ever hearing before. I may be wrong on that but I have not seen any high-level Economists really sounding the alarm.

Ohh fuck off. I got my stories crossed. At least I checked and admitted I was wrong.
The reason I remember Biden's kid causing trouble is my neighbor was in the car behind him when he crashed into a lady and she was severely injured. He was taken from the scene and never given a breath-a-lizer. The lady did sue and settled out of court. It happened right up the street from where Biden's first wife was killed.

F_B, that link does not really single out any particular President for their harmful economic policy. Matter of fact I believe someone in the trailer mentions "The system".
