That story is a Top-Tenner of the year for me so far. I like his little LT impression trying to dash for paydirt. Sorry, fella.

Plus, Olberman is accountable, even is he sometimes sees things that aren't there. He doesn't lie or make up reports even though he's a flaming liberal.
f-d, he's not accountable. He purposefully avoids elements of stories to create his truth and then accuses others of doing it. He only interviews in friendly terrirory because he knows he build houses of cards. He's said incredibly outrageous things and has never been called to account for them nor has he retracted them.
Credible newsmen refuse to appear on his program because he diminishes their field.
He's like Sean hannity, only Hannity has a defense. Hannity's just reading off cue cards. Olberman actually believes the horse**** he spouts.
Seriously, if you watch him for anything other than entertainment, you've gone off the deep end.

At this point, you could replace "him" with "the media" and not be too far off the mark.

85%- 90% of his show is just calling people out for saying things that were either untrue or just absurd. So, if he spent the last 10%- 15% just riffing fake news off the top of his head, he'd still be the more "accountable" than his doppelgangers are the other side.
Far as credible newsmen go, he doesn't have an argument/shout-off show. He has a "making fun of the far-right" show. There are plenty of credible newsmen and women on his show, but yeah...they are absolutely people of like mind.

What was the last absurd thing Olberman stated? Seriously? I understand the view that he's a "fraud" but based on what?

No one watches Olberman so it is irrelavent.
O'Reilly's 11 O'Clock rerun routinely outdraws Olberman's 8 o'clock show

EAG, Olberman got his first ratings win against O'Reilly last week and publicly thanks him for the 10K viewers he gets every time O'Reilly mentions his name.

Here's a good link I saw today on what the average tax bill would look like under Obama and McCain. This is a plus or minus compared to the average tax bill now (not a total number, since the government knows we'd start another revolution if we ever saw the real numbers), assumes the full plan would be put into place, and gives income ranges.
Pretty interesting, though:

I just checked and he beat him in the 25- 54 demo for the entire week. That's the only one the stations care about, I guess.
I guess it was a big deal because it was the first time it happened and the first "competition" of O'Reilly to ever do it.

EAG,
I saw a NY Times article that said Olberman had a few thousand more viewered in a certain demographic over a week's period. When all vieweres were factored in and when you weigh Olberman being on five days vs. four for O'Reilly, the victory gets more hollow.
But shaving from the full picture is the guy's game.
Anyway, I'd rather not discuss O'Reilly or Olberman. I watch neither and if both went away, I think TV would survive. Olberman, like O'reilly, has folks constantly fact-checking the lies and bias.

There's a link to the main site, if anyone's interested (I'm betting, "Not").

Not at all...that's TV. That demo is how hosts are paid, how advertisers pay, etc.
If anything, the inflated number of "total" viewers including the 70 year old who leave one channel on all night and don't spend money are the ones who skew the stats.
I'm not trying to prop anyone up...it was just a "news" item and we were talking about Olbermann.
I couldn't care less who wins a ratings war between 2 guys I've never met on shows I rarely/never watch.

People may not be able to see the NY Times article. Not sure if they block it for non-subscribers/registered people.
A Ratings Coup for Keith Olbermann
By Brian Stelter
Keith Olbermann may not be going on vacation anytime soon.
Mr. Olbermann, the host of “Countdown” on MSNBC, cancelled his vacation plans for this week when it appeared likely that his program, which debuted five years ago as a distant also-ran to its counterparts on Fox News Channel and CNN, may beat Fox in the 25- to 54-year-old demographic for a full week for the first time.
And sure enough, “Countdown” did displace “The O’Reilly Factor,” hosted by Mr. Olbermann’s arch-nemesis Bill O’Reilly, last week in that demographic.
It was an admittedly unusual week, fueled by the final Democratic primaries. Excluding Tuesday’s primary coverage, “Countdown” netted 477,000 viewers in the demographic, while the “Factor” averaged 472,000. The “Countdown” ratings helped MSNBC best Fox in the demo in prime time for the week.
Hoping to extend the streak, Mr. Olbermann has delayed his vacation indefinitely. Mr. O’Reilly took his usual day off on Friday, though — a point reiterated by a Fox spokeswoman. On the three days Mr. O’Reilly and Mr. Olbermann were head-to-head, the Fox host prevailed. And as usual, Mr. O’Reilly doubled Mr. Olbermann in total viewers.
Still, boosted by the Democratic primary battle, MSNBC believes it has momentum, which explains the press release promoting the demo win. “We’re growing, and he’s regressed,” Mr. Olbrrmann said in an email message.
