I think that in order to post to the level on Friday past 10 PM, you must blow at least double the limit on a breathalyzer

Fred - couple examples:

The Clash had Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five open some of their Bonds shows in NY in 1981. They also had graffiti artists working behind them on stage one of their Tom Snyder TV show performances. And Magnificent Seven is one of several rap songs they recorded in 1980-81. Clip

Here's Mag 7

Are you referring to Magnificent Seven (above)? Funk is definitely closer than hip hop musically, but he is definitey rapping.

Back to Reggae - Fred, have you ever seen the movie "Rockers"?

Rockers:

Starring Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace and Richard "DirtyHarry" Hall, ROCKERS is a Robin Hood style story of oppressed Jamaican musicians getting even with the "mafia types" in the business. Featuring Burning Spear, Bunny Wailer, Third World, Peter Tosh, Jacob Miller, Gregory Isaacs, Kiddus I, Junior Murvin, Inner Circle, the Heptones, & Abyssinians. ROCKERS includes acting roles and appearances by Jacob Miller, Gregory Isaacs, Burning Spear, Kiddus I, Leroy Smart, more.

Fred - contact me through the site or get my email from Seth - I will hook you up. Besides The Harder They Come, Rockers is THE Reggae film.

"Concrete Jungle" is probably my favorite Marley song, although I prefer some of the earlier, more sparse versions of that recording.

This tune (not Bob) always reminds me of my first real job. One of the women I worked with back then used to play this CD, and I realized that there actually was reggae beyond Bob Marley
Yo, click it

I got that tune in my car, FB. And on the ipod, laptop, etc. Love it. Got his remake of Johnny B. Goode as well.

I don't know if Saul Williams counts as ska...prolly not. Like him too.
