FB inspired this thread by acting as if he cant appreciate anything thats not the ultimate in 'machismo'.
What are you a fan of, that could be considered a tad 'iffy'?
(Neag- plz dont chime in with "balls across the nose after 2am")
- I loved The Golden Girls.
- I love a lot of 80s music thats waaay gay. WHAM's Careless whisper is a 'roll up the windows' song for me.
- Ive used to want highlights.
- I like to get color in the summer- hate being pale
- I say "EW" when i dont like something
- I spend a lot on hair care products
- I think Babs Striesand has a tremendous voice but is a world class cunt
- Wizard of Oz is a favorite film of mine
Chances are, nobody out here will contribute to this thread with any honesty and I'll have NEAG givin my cell # out to his buds.
Super.
Man up people, chime in.

I like the song.
Very secure here dude.
Its not an "i like it on artistic merit" song- surely, its a nostalgic thing for me, but the fact I like it and the memory it evokes.
so i like it.
Tell me you have nothing like that in your life?

I have to think long and hard- I can't roll them off like a laundry list...
Oh. Ok.
I can appreciate, and even discuss classical music.
There.

Thats not 'iffy'- thats just good upbringing and being somewhat cultured.
I mean, its a good thing, for sure, I can as well to an extent- but i dont think its something that would have a fellow board member type "OH MY GOD" in bold font like you did to my short list.

That was a SHORT list?
To be fair, getting a tan isn't gay.
Having a Speedo tan line is.

Who doesn't like some of that wussy 80s music?
I have the Bangles' greatest hits in my CD book in my car.
I tend to watch the Young and the Restless on days I'm working from home. I've stopped short of DVR'ing it the other days, but that's not to say we're not headed that way. 90210 may very well be my favorite show of all-time. Saw the Golden Girls a few times and thought it was an excellent idea for a show, if not my cup of tea...

Also... if there was top-25 poll for my favorite movies, well I'm not saying "Grease" would make it, but it would definitely make the "Others Receiving Votes" category. There's only so much you can avoid growing up with three sisters.

Billy Clanton : Stephen Foster. "Oh, Susannah", "Camptown Races". Stephen stinking Foster.
Doc Holliday : Ah, yes. Well, this happens to be a nocturne.
Billy Clanton : A which?
Doc Holliday : You know, Frederic fucking Chopin.

When I go to Mrs. Bass' folks house (they have cable), I watch Lifetime. Specifically the Golden Girls.
I had "Wham! Rap" in my MP3 player before it imploded (might be a correlation).
I like the "Jem" theme music and cartoon.
Was a fan of Debbie Gibson.
Still don't punch the clown (however that's supposed to mean).

I was "appreciative" of some of Madonna's groovier tunes back when she was a slut and had some meat on her bones...
Does that count?

I'm fairly certain I can trump everyone here. I don't think it will even be close.
Let's see...
- I started acting in community and dinner theater at age 8 and as a result, pretty much grew up around gay people.
- I was in "show choir" in high school, which in retrospect, is probably the gayest thing ever. After my freshman year, I only did it because I felt sorry for the choir director. I was the kind of guy who didn't really have a choice to quit or there would have been hell to pay from much of the faculty.
- I went to college as a musical theater major, eventually switching to acting which was somewhat less gay. At least I ran the theater department football pool and played masculine roles in the productions, but I did have to take ballet. (If you saw me dancing ballet, you'd know I'm far from gay. It wasn't pretty.)
- I went to a Halloween party dressed as The Transsexual Bride of Frankenstein but salvaged the night by hooking up with a hot French maid, essentially proving my theory that anyone can get some on Halloween.
- My senior year I hosted a party, which became a naked party, where 15 of us (men, women, straight, and gay) hung out for hours completely naked, drinking, dancing, getting stoned, and talking. Actually, there was nothing really gay about this, but I think most people are freaked out when I tell them about this party, the story of which probably belongs in another thread.
- I once played George H.W. Bush in a play called Macbush, which was a somewhat clever but rather gay parody of Shakespeare and the Bush administration. As Bush The Elder, I had to make out with Don Rumsfeld. The dude did not shave well, and it was painful enough that I've since taken pity on the women I've dated and have been sure to to a better job with the razor.
- I was in a cross-dressing parody of Thelma and Louise with my sketch comedy group where I had to make out with another dude. (Some Levellers actually have a DVD of this, which probably makes them gay by association.)
- I am not afraid to occasionally grow a fu man chu, even though it makes me look like I'm a member of the Village People. Nowadays, it's pretty tough to rock a mustache unless you're a cop, a gay pornstar, or a pirate.
- I like to cook, and I'm pretty good at it. I'm not just talking about grilling, smoking, and pulling pork; I make some rather involved recipes involving sauces, compound butters, etc.
- I went on tour with a musical for 6 months and was the only straight guy in the cast. Yes, my roommate was gay as the day is long and...nothing ever happened.
- Post-college, I've worked at a company that dealt with HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care in Africa, Latin America, and Asia (about half of the male staff was gay), Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia ('nuff said), a really trashy gay dive bar (worked Gay Pride two or three times and only once did a dude try to grope me), and a company that handles marketing and ticketing for theater (again, a place crawling with gays).
- I take swing dance classes. Actually, this is a vaginal gold mine for single straight guys, and I highly recommend it.
- I can't tell you the last mainstream film I saw in the movie theater, but I can name several French art films I've seen in the past year. I guess that doesn't make me gay, just pretentious.
- I regularly see theater, opera, and dance performances. I don't think there's anything gay about that, but some people still think the arts are feminine.
- I have a good number of gay friends, some of whom I may even hug when I see them without fear of catching the gay. I was invited to a gay commitment ceremony (they can't get married in Washington state yet), and I'd like to go, but I can't because the flights are too expensive. On the plus side, if I don't go, I will be spared a litany of snide remarks about my comparatively unfashionable suit.
I don't think anyone's going to top that list, and here are a few reasons why it's impossible for me to be gay:
- I do not dress well enough. It's not even close. I'm somewhat hopeless in the fashion department and am far from fabulous.
- I hate karaoke.
- I hate club music and am really not crazy about '80s music, aside from nostalgic reasons.
- I hate cabarets and cabaret singers.
- I don't understand why gay men are obsessed with female singers. I do not like "Britney," "Christina," "Jessica," etc.
- I can't comprehend the allure of cocks. Seriously, NEAG, help us out here. What's so great about a cock? It's just blunt instrument. At least a woman's body is shapely and curvaceous, and don't overlook the fact that the vagina can self-lubricate, which is far cooler than a stupid expanding dick.

1. I watch and love Army Wives, Grey’s Anatomy and American Idol. I DVR all of them and get excited to get all comfy on the couch to watch. I’m the same with Queer eye for the Straight guy.
2. I’m very maternal. With people I meet in support groups and my own kids, I am very much a care giver. I bring food to struggling addicts and make sure they eat. I have no issue doing “mommy type jobs” with my three children, so much so that my wife’s friends comment on it regularly. I am the only male who volunteers for a couple of days as class mom per year for my kids, I go and do story time, I bake and bring in birthday cupcakes etc.
3. I use a lot of “product” (except for hair care). I have two types of facial scrub, use body wash, exfoliate and moisturize.
4. I am excellent at wine pairing.

I love to cook and am pretty damn good at it.
I love wine and drink a ton of it.
I watched and recorded As The World Turns for about 10 years in the '80's & '90's before quitting cold turkey.
I will not change the station if an ABBA song comes on.

Munch brings up another good one-- I would MUCH rather cook dinner or do some laundry than shovel snow or mow the lawn. That's not to say it ends up happening that way, but it's my preference.
I've also been told I have exceptionally good handwriting for a man. But I attribute that to Catholic school, not femininity.

well, gonna be impossible to top talon... he won as soon a he posted "musical theatre" major. i'm fairly limited on the feminine habits and interests, but i have a few:
- won't turn off "steel magnolias" when it's on. a great movie, in fact.
- had bleached blonde hair for a spell. that's more lame than gay, but figured i'd throw it in.
- known to enjoy a "project runway" marathon, but actually am kind of over it at this point.
- slightly attracted to mark ruffalo.

-Like White wine.
-Like cooking shows.
-For the last few years, have strongly resisted the urge to get a manicure and a pedicure.
-In for "Careless Whisper", but like Seth, for nostalgic reasons. That song was the theme song to my Senior year in High School daily commute, along with Talking Heads "Little Creatures" album.
