over-prescribed powerful, highly addictive opiate-narcotic that was allowed to saturate the market irrelevant
Is your gripe that doctors are too dumb or can't control their prescription pads?
Or are you making my point that a drug used in moderate (i.e. reasonable, or allowable) consumption shouldn't be compared to drugs that aren't approved for moderate 9and all that) consumption?

That should read:

wouldn't touch the herb outside of my apt. on a bet.
Probably a smart decision these days.
When Bloomberg took over, he revamped Giuliani's policy, and the cops started letting people off with either a warning or a mere ticketed offense.
However, I think there's been some sort of sea change. I had some friends who were nabbed outside of a bar (they were kind of dumb about it), and the ones smoking had nothing happen to them, while the ones with paraphernalia got tossed in the can for the night. My one friend had no prior record, so the charges and fine were dropped. The other guy had an old offense and I think he got hit with a significant fine.
I'm still not sure about the logic behind busting people for paraphernalia but not possession or use. Sounds kind of stupid to me. It seems as though Mayor Bloomberg is saying, "It's okay if you smoke joints, but don't think about packing that phatty glass bowl."
Fortunately, I rarely indulge in public, and when I do, I have a fairly rock-solid system to avoid the long arm of the law.

Ahhh..the simple explanation. No effort to recognize that patients doctor shop till they can find someone who DOESN'T know them and doesn't realize that they are milking the system for narcs or the Limbaugh's who will have dealers go to post-op patients who are stoic enough and don't need the pain meds but DO need the money and sell. They then restock (legitimately and for medical reasons) but then resell (illegitimately) so that Heath Ledger can "mix it up" with alcohol and other benzos.
Let's not forget its most commonly prescribed for the scourge of the patient population "back pain" and for cancer patients.

of course if every patient used painkiller medication exactly as directed by a doctor there would be far fewer problems. but the facts are the facts: prescription painkiller abuse and sales, both legal and black market, has skyrocketed into a major public health crisis with the introduction of oxycontin (as well vicodin, etc) flooding the market, with the full consent of the powers that be, helped immeasurably by the pharm. lobby and their sales minions. besides the black market effect, many otherwise legit patients lacked the requisite caution regarding these highly addictive medications because they were prescribed by a doctor, even if warned of the potential for abuse.
if we're willing endure those risks to patients and society at large in the name of patient relief, prohibiting doctors from making the decision to prescribe a much less severe alternative when the situation warrants it seems a wee bit hypocritical, at best.
the "dangerous effect of marijuana unleashed on an the unsuspecting patient" argument falls a little flat in light of the facts.
Or are you making my point that a drug used in moderate (i.e. reasonable, or allowable) consumption shouldn't be compared to drugs that aren't approved for moderate 9and all that) consumption?
so your point is that drugs that are "allowable" are necessarily safer than a drug that hasn't approved by the government, simply because it hasn't been approved by the government?
that's the kind of circular (ie, completely flawed) logic that i had issue with in the last thread.

i think you are referring to patchouli oil, though i never thought it smelled like feet. i think the prime suspect in the symptom of "dirty hippiness" is lack of hygiene.
they just use the patchouli to lie to themselves and torture us.
