The must have been a might fun scene in that woman's home on Saturday morning. And how can someone limit themselves to 6 Pit Bulls, that's like only having 40 or so cats.

Sorry Zak, the animal has proven to be overly aggressive.

I am willing to spare those alive now, but they must be sterilized and any of them still alive in 12 years will be put down

BMA, I'd agree that in most cases a good owner solves this problem, but that does beg the question...how do you guarantee a good owner or a well trained dog?

Stop selling them to people who want them for status symbols. They aren't hard to spot.

there is no question that pitbulls - because of their natural temperament, the incredible amount of pressure they exert with their bites (much stronger than other guard breeds), their "lock-jaw" physiology (they don't let go even after their killed) and relatively small size (don't need a lot of room to house them, so almost anyone can have one) - are by far the most dangerous breed of dog. i'm not suggesting what to do about them, but the facts are the facts.

That's really the issue at this point. I like pit bulls, but every time a pit bull attacks someone a pit bull owner says "my dog is nice". Well, that's great. Really is. What are we going to do about the 500 pit bulls per city block that aren't?

It's not difficult at all. People should have to get a special license to breed/own them, just like they do for exotic animals.

how can you screw up an animals bloodline through training methods? selective breeding, yes.

It's not as direct as selective breeding, but that's how it starts with these dogs at some point.

Sadly, a good portion of those need to be put down thanks to the thugs, white trash and other assorted miscreants that have screwed up the dog's bloodline and temperament through training methods, or lack thereof.

Now that I'm thinking about it, this wouldn't eeven be a very big issue. They don't live extremely long lives, so even is you applied all laws immediately and grandfathered existing pets, the threats would take care of themselves within a decade or so.

They should also greatly relax laws on defending yourself against one. Basically, if I see one looking at me a tad funny I can use my discretion as to whether to Taze or just outright shoot it on the street.
