NEAG, I enjoyed the Final Destination movies as well (at least the 1st 3). Plus, former Cherry Hill resident babe Ali Larter does not hurt either.

Although i am noticing a lot of similarities between Final Destination and 1000 Ways to Die. Hmmm....

Ali Larter is on the "Needs to Get Naked" list.

I have not been to the movies since 2001

speaking as homebody, it's still more fun to see a movie in the theaters than at home, imo. i especially like the awkwardness at the end of a particularly stirring picture where two or three fools try to get a clap going as the credits role.

'Religulous' - amateur hour. I wish Maher'd leave athiesm to more serious people like Dawkins & Hitchens.

Is there any doubt that he's in the closet, btw? All this Playboy mansion bs he likes to perpetuate... I'd take even odds on him being at least a practicing bi.

actually never thought of that, but he is kind of effeminate, now that you mention it.

surprised it took you this long to see religulous, olv. it's definitely a comical, rather than rigorously academic take on the issue, but i still liked it. i did find myself thinking "why didn't you attack this, or that", etc.

Flesh, I only mention it because he so consistently brags about running around with bunnies and flight attendants all day. His mannerisms, the way he dresses, the angles he takes and comments he makes when homosexuality comes up, his apparent preference for female rather than male company in non-sexual situations...

And above all my wife, who knows and cares virtually nothing of Maher, declared it a certainty after seeing certain parts of the film, in particular some old stand-up clips that he'd woven in. Her record in this area is impeccable.

At any rate I understand the film was supposed to be sort of light (despite the overwrought, apocalyptic closing monologue... good grief). But to me, Maher's about as funny as cancer. Even pre-9/11 - when I probably agreed with 80% of his political views - the guy never made me laugh even a little.

agree with olv on Religulous. Instead of taking on interesting aspects, he decided to make dumb truckers look even dumber. maher is a waste

Maher doesn't have the intellect to pull off something hard hitting. Hitchens could be piss drunk and still do circles around Maher at his best.

Maher allowed himself the last word in literally every conversation he had in the movie. I found myself siding with his opponents in some scenes.

And some of it was just painfully unfunny, like where he went to Hyde Park pretending to be a scientologist. Student-film stuff.

I can't believe anyone would pay to see the new Conan movie- really?

Only thing I'd pay to go see is the new Dark Knight movie I think

Most of these new superhero movies like the Avengers, Iron Man and Captain America, the Green Lantern, etc seem like "money grab movies" to me.

The Nolan movies are light years better and probably worth the price of admission, IMO

Watched Source Code over the weekend and it was really good, IMO. Paradoxes galore, but I thought it was pretty cool.

I also watched Unknown, and have to say Liam Neeson is fast becoming one of the most bankable good bad movie actors. Like, the premise of the movie is terrible, it's poorly written, it's poorly acted, it's needlessly complicated and makes little sense...it's got it all. His best work since Taken, IMO.

His career is pretty remarkable. It seemed like he was in a lot of good or critically acclaimed movies for about ten years, vanished for a few years, and came back as some kind of mick version of Steven Segal in his heyday.

I liked Taken, but one thing stuck out.

I'm 29 and I'm a U2 fan. But I really can't see a 17 y.o. being such a U2 fan that she wanted to follow them around Europe.

Shouldn't that have set off his CIA "bllshit" meter?

Don't get me wrong, I liked Taken, too, but I thought it was totally bad at the same time. It was kind of a ridiculous movie that was somehow entertaining.

His American accent is priceless.

Also, it's good to get the opinion of a confirmed 29 year old on the subject, since I am older and do not have your under-30 perspective.

Taken was fine, if you are coming from the perspective of not having seen great original movies- basically it was something to watch when you don't feel like thinking

I thought Taken was lame. Unknown was horrible. Liam Neeson is just bizarrely cast or isn't reading scripts.

On a separate note, I've seen an increase in STD's in the local Burgh area since the beginning of shooting of the next Batman movie....

There are no STD's there, but they have the best shrimp scampi I ever tasted :)
