Yeah?
I'd think it was notoriously popular with alot of people, seeing how it's 80 years old and everyone has seen it, and it still airs regularly

I'd say it's not frequently viewed by straight men over the age of stoned and under the age of dead, of their own volition.
That said, I've seen it relatively recently. My mother-in-law loves it and it's been on around the christmas a couple times when we stay at their place.

Flesh-
Are you serious?
The Wizard of Oz is an absolute, all time, cant miss 100% HR of a movie/story/historically relevant film in the history of cinema.
Im 38 (not a kid) and not a homo, and LOVE that film.
LOVE IT.
Own the collectors set, many of the original books by Baum, and never EVER miss a chance to watch it if its on TV- this includes passing on the 'epic' NE/Colts Sun NIte Game 2 yrs ago when clicking thru the dial to FIND said game stumbled on The Wizard Of Oz and put the clicker down immediately....watched it with the daughter.
Dude....i think you're misguided in thinking its for kids or homos...
rant over.

fwiw it is great if you have a good buzz on...stirs up nostalgic memories of times you only had that ONE chance each spring to see it air on CBS before Ted T bought it as well as (depending on your BAC) open your eyes to underlying themes/things you didnt notice perhaps initially

How is it not normal?
We were sittin on the couch, we passed it and she recoginzed it immediately (she loves it too - which i realize you find OK as she is a kid and was just 6 at the time) and yelled out "Daddy! Its The Wizard Of Oz!"
What would you do man?
I got text updates on the game from seemingly everyone but in the long run the memory she has of my picking to watch that over the game I talked about all Sunday was well worth it.
Unless your saying owning the books by Baum is not normal, and then in that case i dunno what to tell you- I dug his shit as a kid and was given them as gifts some time ago- nicely bound versions.

of course watching it with your daughter is normal. but you were making it like you saw it was on, dropped everything to watch it and your daughter just happened to be around.
and the other stuff is weird. ask your friends and family. no judgement here, i think it's kind of endearing.
