Dantoni should be fired like yesterday. They should also fire Stoudemire. What a beautiful wreck that team is.

actually, i don't really think lin sucks at all. i think he's pretty good, especially if he can just pull back on some of the high risk passes in the paint. i wish jrue had half the ability to get in the paint and draw contact. but as long as their tied to AS and CA, they are fucked.

that's the thing with lin, though, lots of those TO's aren't high risk passes. he just sucks at seeing anything going on

i also don't think he sucks, per say, but don't think he'll end up being anything more than an average to slightly above average starter.

Other than Chandler and Shumpert they have nobody who can play D. Their coach doesn't care an ounce about defense. Melo and Amare may be the most hollow "stars" in the entire league and I have no idea what GM will want to trade for them after this debacle of a season.

maybe, kb, i hope you're right. i just know that lin and the knicks are a different (and much better) team without CA. the knicks offense stagnates so much with anthony on the floor and i think that leads to some of the TOs.

idk, he literally threw the ball at Turner for his 3rd(!) TO of the first quarter yesterday for a pick six. He was getting a ton of TOs without CA in the lineup too.

that is true, no doubt. but even during the linsanity period, he was still turning the ball over a lot they were having lots of success. i know that i'm kind of changing the argument a bit, but i think they can live with his TOs with right cast around him. he did seem to take a bunch of ill-advised jumpers yesterday.

he had a hot few games of shooting, i just dont' see how he can sustain that. if he can't, he's a TO machine that can't play d

i think chinese are pushy and loud, so that may be coloring my views.

I don't understand how someone with three fully functioning brain cells can look at D'antoni and think he's a championship caliber coach. Even moreso when people were saying Lin "saved his job", even though the same coach was benching him for all that time.

i don't think they were saying lin saved his job by allowing him to demonstrate some brilliant talent evaluation. no coach in the world would have given lin minutes unless he was desperate. they're saying he saved it because the knicks started playing well.

question on the table: right now, who would you rather have on your team, jrue or lin?

I don't think he's a good coach but he was two bad suspensions away from beating the Spurs in '07 and going to the WCF which they probably would have won. I get why he was hired but its time for him to GTFO.

Those two bad suspensions are one of the reasons I can't take the NBA seriously. They swung the series and if I were a Suns fan, I'd still be pissed about it.

How likely would a stay at SG for JH be?

he was pretty much playing that role anyway, and if they keep playing this well, it doesn't really matter what the positions they're playing.

From what I observed Jrue played point yesterday. ET brought it up the floor maybe 5 times max from an inbounds pass. The difference is they're not running him off screens anymore or hiding him in the corner.

but, as DC was saying last week, Jrue has started settling more for jumpers and driving, not looking to distribute the ball. His role has completely changed

I know, but my narrow definition of a PG is the guy who brings up the ball and starts the O in motion. That is still Jrue. The Sixers share the ball so much it doesn't really matter what labels you give them.

I'd like to see how they play in a close game with the new ET. I think they could've beaten the Thunder a couple weeks ago when they couldn't get a defensive rebound to save their life.

Knicks already used their amnesty on Chauncey, so they can't amnesty Melo or STAT.

On Jrue v. Lin, If D'Antoni were the 6ers coach, Jrue would average 20 and 9 (at age 21, Lin's 23). Give me Jrue now and for the long term any day.

So, ET's generally nutzo....

super...

"...Stan Hochman’s cryptic report on the WIP Morning Show last week; The longtime Daily News writer told Angelo, Al and Rhea, "There’s an explanation for Turner’s inconsistent play. One of these days, the team, with Turner’s permission, will reveal it. And then the criticism will back off."

The Sixers quickly denied that anything was wrong with Turner, but, well, the seed has been planted.

From Mark Titus's new book (a former walk-on at Ohio State):

"...The most prominent of these characters was The Villain (Turner), who I’m not sure can even be adequately described with just words. But words are all I’ve got right now, so I’ll give it a try anyway: The Villain was an insecure, socially feebleminded, possibly bipolar, and often callous perfectionist who had all the talent in the world, who lacked self-confidence and the ability to trust in anybody around him, who was actually one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet when he wanted to be, and who would frequently walk around our locker room with his dick flopped over the waistband of his pants.

That really is the best description I can possibly give. It should be noted that in his sophomore season he wasn’t quite as big of a hothead as he was the season before, but he still consistently made things entertaining."

This passage about how difficult it was for Ohio State head coach Thad Matta to control Turner. The coach offered Turner incentives to keep his cool for the duration of this 90-minute practice. With 10 minutes remaining, things looked good as the team broke out to shoot free throws:

"I’ve scheduled this practice for an hour and a half. That’s only 90 minutes. Today we’re going to see how long it takes before Evan loses his mind. I’ve got the countdown on my watch and if Evan lasts the entire 90 minutes without a meltdown, the team won’t run today. But if he freaks out, we’ll run a suicide for every minute left on the countdown. So, for example, he loses it an hour into practice, everyone will run 30 suicides. Evan, the entire team’s fate lies in your hands. Don’t let your teammates down."

When I walked over to Evan’s basket, he smacked his lips and said, "What are you doing over here, walk-on?" while in the middle of one of his free throws. (Yes, he called me "walk-on.")

I explained that Coach Matta had asked me to shoot with him and that we were supposed to shoot five free throws at a time before we switched. He seemed cool with this, shot his five free throws, and then stepped off the free throw line to switch spots with me without any trouble. And that’s when, to put it eloquently, shit went down.

Before I go any further with this story, it should be noted that I faced up to 10 suicides if Evan lost his cool, so it’s not as if I was actively trying to piss him off. But as I soon found out, I didn’t have to try with Evan. As we switched spots, I handed him the ball and asked him to toss me a bounce pass once I got lined up, just like a referee would do if I were shooting free throws in a game. But he apparently interpreted this as "roll the ball on the ground before I even get set so it hits my feet, makes me bend over, and completely destroys my rhythm." I picked the ball up and got situated at the free throw line before I gently tossed it back to Evan and again asked him to throw me a bounce pass. This time he fired a chest pass at me.

Now, I admit that I probably should’ve taken the high road at this point and just shot the free throws, but my pride kicked in and wouldn’t let Evan get the best of me, so I threw the ball back and once again asked him to simply throw me a bounce pass. As soon as the ball hit his hands, he rocketed it right back and yelled, "Just shoot the fucking ball!" so loudly that he got the attention of everyone in the gym, including Coach Matta. But instead of blowing his whistle and making us run, Coach decided to sit back and watch everything unfold.

I shot my free throws and switched spots with Evan, who had been standing underneath the basket rebounding for me (and throwing passes back to me as hard as he could). As we walked past each other, Evan called me a bitch under his breath and threw his shoulder at my face, connecting square with my chin. Coach Matta instantly blew his whistle and yelled, "There it is! Everyone on the line!"

And with that, Evan had finally had his meltdown."

Again, super.

"I like to remind him that he was a headcase his freshman year. It's kind of funny because now he's a good kid and he's got his head on right and he's destined to do some pretty great things I think."
