Stern should have come back with "That's a clown question, bro."

Not disputing how Rome acts, but would it kill Stern to just say "No the lottery isn't rigged; we have an independent auditor"?

I mean, sure, people still won't believe him, but it's his own fault he allowed the world to see stuff like Lakers-Kings in 2002

i think it would be tough to pull off. it doesn't take place on stage like they make it look, and each team gets a representative in the private room where it happens, in addition to the arbitrator. why would any owner of a shitty franchise be ok with allowing the pick to go elsewhere in some crazy conspiracy, when it costs them millions and millions

I was too young to remember the rigged Ewing Lottery, but this was my first inkling that Stern was resorting to WWF tactics to get what he wanted.

Any ref should be fired for calling Reggie Miller for a flagrant foul. I've seen harder hits at the Rock Paper Scissors US Championships

I only tuned in after Phils/Dbax games were finished (end of third pd) but the calls (non-Calls) in this game are beyond effing brutal.

2 consectuive non calls on travels & an offensive fould on the ensuing posession- all within what, 45 seconds of play, alone??

A longtime poster maintains that thruought the game, the Heat's been on the stripe. I will admit to not knowing the free throw numbers are/

hoping the Thunder can battle back vs Heat & Refs.

Down 8.

I only tuned in with 10 minutes left, but the litany of blown, perhaps horribly biased calls made that incredibly frustrating to watch.

And what about LeBron's foul that wasn't called on Durant's last shot?

What a joke of a league.

yeah game 1 was just as bad in favor of thunder.

nba refs are bad, but so are home plate umps. you never know what the strike zone is until after a couple innings.

I'm not someone who thinks the NBA is rigged, but last night I did start to wonder if the officials will guarantee this series goes to 7 games.

But no one (to my knowledge) has accused umps of re-enacting that scene in The Naked Gun from up high, nor have they come out and said as much.

BTW, Stern has so much media clout it's not even funny. If Selig, Bettman or Goddell (well, maybe not) ever said that to a reporter? Run up and down by the media.

did you listen to it, too? It really wasn't bad.

bsaeball was just fixed overall by MLB when they allowed steroids into the game. every league sucks in that they do what they need to make money

I think the best part of Miami winning is now ESPN needs to think up new stuff to talk about rather than if LeBron is the biggest choker in the history of professional sports.

IDK, I think at this point it'd be foolish to trade him because 1)unless the Lakers/Magic are jaw-droppingly dumb, no other trade is going to make the team better for him, and 2)you'd lose a lot of the defensive side.

I do think they need to make a move to give ET more time

The only thing I "knew" about the NBA (literally, through intense media saturation) was Lebron James is some kind of damaged player because he was completely unable to win a championship before he turned 25.

Now it's back to the drawing board, I guess. I just can't seem to figure this nothing sport out.

It would depend on what, if any, subsequent moves were made. Like, if they traded ET but signed Eric Gordon (won't happen) then I'd be very happy with it. Or packaged the 10 and 15 to move up or trade for an impact player, or something like that. But if no other moves happen, then I wouldn't do it either.
