Had Zimmerman not shot Trayvon and, instead, Zimmerman was beaten to death would Trayvon have been acting in self defense? Would it have been a justified attack/killing since Zimmerman was following him? Trayvon "standing his ground", so to speak

At this rate, a first year law student would be able to get Zimmerman to walk. click here

Everyone already knew he was a pussy, so none of this is really news.
The question the jury will have to decide is if you can stalk a kid doing nothing wrong at night while armed and then kill him in self defense when the kid attempts to defend himself.

I dunno...was it PCP?
What percentage of 17 year old have traces of THC in their system? 90%? 100%? Is there a percent higher than 100?

and they'll be like "Oh, wasn't aware the family were doctors and were qualified to determine what made up 'trace' amounts"
ABC already changed that story, btw. The headline read "Autopsy reveals drugs in Martin's system" and it was mostly about that.

I don't know what his jury looks like or will look like, but in order to feel good about letting Zimmerman off without any punishment, I'd need to believe Trayvon either targeted him OR Zimmerman actually caught him in the act of doing something.
If Trayvon was on some kind of nutso drug at the time, that would also be a consideration. Traces of weed wouldn't do it, though.
I have no idea what they'll think. This is Florida...possibly the weirdest state in the Union.

the defense doesn't have to prove zimmerman saw him do something. with their retarded law, they just have to prove that zimmerman was getting his ass beat, and that looks bad right now for the prosecution. defense being able to use the general "drugs" phrasing is just the cherry on top for them.

That's one interpretation of the law, but this is the first time it's being tested. When they wrote it, they weren't thinking some creep would stalk a kid, the kid would "stand his ground" with fists, and the creep would "stand his ground" with murder after failing to defend himself like a man.

that's right, but i just don't see a jury convicting after witnesses are supporting zimmerman. i honestly don't think the prosecution wants to try hard on this case anyway

basically, how can the prosecution prove that zimmerman's story was wrong, that he only got out of the car to see the house number to let the police know where this was happening?

The cell phone call to 911 pretty easily disproves that, IMO. In either case, it's not like Trayvon attacked Zimmerman in his driveway.
Like I said, though...I have no idea what they'll think. I just know what I think. I don't think this was premeditated murder, but I think he has to pay a price for what he did and I think Floritard needs to fix their laws to dissuade weakling creeps from play crap Batman while armed.

which cell phone call, the one where the father said it wasn't his son calling for help, then said it was? or the one where a policeman said zimmerman called for help. the story is too muddled and nobody can factually state anything in court

The one where Zimmerman was on the phone with 911 operators, got out of his car, you could hear the beeping from the open door, and he stated he was following Trayvon. The 911 operator then said "Don't do that" and he said "Okay", but you could tell he was still following him.

weird, how can you tell. i never actually heard it, just read that he was told not to follow
does that still mean a jury will say "even though he was beating your ass and people saw it happen, you started it"? i don't think it's going to work like that at all.

Trayvon ran away from him and he chased him. You hear Zimmerman mutter something like "they always get away". You can hear the wind in the cell phone receiver when he starts running and you can hear him continue running for a few more seconds after they tell him not to.
I think the jury will have to decide whether it's appropriate to use deadly force when you instigate the attack.
For example, does "stand your ground" mean you can walk into a bar, instigate a fight with someone, and then shoot them when they punch you or you're not winning the fight? If it does, that's frightening.
