That black on black thing has been explained ad naseum on the level . . . some folks just can't get over a comment that was (while poorly worded) a legitimate statement about one black man torpedoing another when they should have been sticking together, as team mates, as paid professionals and as members of the same race.

So where were all the people when Seth Joyner was verbally assaulting Randall all those years?

Although, to be fair, you could categorize Charles Barkley's assault on Armon Gilliam as "black on whack" crime...

The fact that this run is killing McNabb makes it that much more enjoyable for me.

EAG's = Mother Goose.

McNabb is absolutely rooting for the team both in his head and in reality. He's also dreading the off-season speculation.

Why is it so difficult to believe both things are possible? If I was the QB of this team and had been through all the nonsense McNabb has had to put up with, this run would (specifically if it somehow ended in a championship) would be bittersweet.

Oh, and the fact that literally 1/2 of Philly thinks Garcia is a better long term answer at QB probably isn't helping.

That's pure speculation. How do you know?
Maybe deep down, his ego tells him it'd be better if the Eagles lose without him. You can't know if he's secretly rooting for or against unless you're the Great Kreskin. Then again, you ARE the Great F-d, my bad.

And why is that any different from some of the things that the great ones have had to deal with over the years? Why should McNabb be special?

Not saying it's right, but some of the fans and media are just maroons.

Seth, that "black on black" thing has really got you messed up, huh? You can't let that go, can you? Why is that?

Um, no. Just a quick example of how the cat says the dumbest stuff.

As for JULAMY'S assertion that the analogy was apt. in the case of 1 black man torpedoing another black man, and it was just ill timed, I say that is B.S.

The proper expression woulda been "Crabs in a barrell" and not associating the back and forth between millionaire pampered athletes to blacks selling crack to black youths on the playgrounds, or killin oneanother etc.

Sorry.

As for someone just now saying it's pure speculation on my part, OF COURSE IT IS!

Im using the history of this guy's actions, comments, and his dainty ego to back my speculation.

But Seth, you have repeatedly picked this quote over all the other McNabb "funnies".
There's something deeper than "this is just an example", methinks.

I tried listening to Rob the Hippie-Chick on WIP (for entertainment purposes only) yesterday, and it was making my ears bleed (one nimrod saying McNabb was responsible for the defense playing poorly, saying "a leader needs to be held accountable").

There is a contingent that believes Garcia is a long term answer (being their long term only goes as far as next year). Those are the same people who wanted AJ over McNabb, Koy over McNabb, Hoy-oing-oing-oing-ing over Peete, McMahon over Randall, etc.

It never ends - just an example of the mentality behind the QB.

I'm going by what Garcia said (having spoken to him in private) and what I've heard Trotter say (having spoken to him in private).

I can't know for sure what's in his head, but wasn't this conversation started on speculation that in his head he was rooting against them?

Um, have I? And what could be there, 'under the surface' that you're pickin up on with your Spidey sense?

Im not black.

Only black people should be mortified by the shallowness and non - in - touch use of that phrase by a respected member of their community (the ones in the community who don't think he's too white/not black enuff that is).

Garcia took the boos with aplomb and was rapidly acclaimed by the city with his attitude and more importantly his play."

That is true. However, I find it odd that some of the McNabb haters (EAG for example) were so quick to chastise the fans for booing Garcia, yet still kill McNabb for his reaction to being booed without ever calling out the fans who booed him.

And Seth, your argument that the FAMILY may not be rooting for the team is a different argument. Just because the FAMILY are Donovan fans not Eagle fans does NOT mean Donovan is not supporting his own team!

It never ceases to amaze me how some Philly fans go out of their way to find flaws in their star players. Schmidt, Barkley, Dick Allen, Iverson, Abreau, Randall, McNabb, etc. No player is perfect. But killing McNabb, who is not even playing, because of an ASSUMPTION that he MAY not be "rooting" for his own team is about as ludicrous as it gets.

If not 1/2, I'd say a third.

If they wanted AJ starting over McNabb (and you know they did), there is no doubt they'll want Garcia (who is playinf MUCH better than AJ did).

I'm not saying the smart fans want Garcia as the long term solution, but you know there will be no shortage of Eagles fans in that group.

Dino, it shouldn't JUST be categorized with Philly fans. It's all over. Especially in NY.

Only problem is, this town is given an image of a town of complainers, compounded by the lack of a sports championship.

You needn't look to find flaws with McNabb Dino- let's be realistic. And for the record, I think it's known here that I have supported 5 all along and continue to do so.

The guy's got a huge chip on his shoulder.
The guy's resentful and narrow minded re: the Draft incident- get over it.
The guy has said SO MANY things to show that he may NOT get it, as far as being a leader etc- if you're THAT confident in your hold on the team/lockerroom and in the unquestion leader role- WHY the constant, public, reaffirmation- never occuring more than when T.O. was here in 04, and went down with injury (amidst all the love Philly was pourin down on 81) and then in 05- "the fallout year".???

Yes, you have.

I don't know. But it seems to have struck a nerve, since you repeatedly reference this quote over the others.

Only black people should be mortified by the shallowness and non - in - touch use of that phrase by a respected member of their community (the ones in the community who don't think he's too white/not black enuff that is).

Is it shallow? Yes. But no shallower than when an athlete says "I'm holding out because I need to feed my family". But it seems that the racial component of that idiotic quote has you all in a tizzy, since you keep coming back to it. The fatc of the matter is, McNabb isn't the first person to say it, and honestly, while stupid, it never really offended me. I've heard it before.
