FB- id say you have more issues with McNabb than me, for one.
Naw, we just have issues w/ McNabb about different things, that's all.
And what are you doin around here? Havent seen you since Garcia kinda was the next to make ya look dumb, bout 5 wks ago, sans a visit to the DSLY thread (to which you were entitled to some enjoyment, no argument here).
Yeah, I haven't been posting as much, I think that thread was so enjoyable I "blew my load" for a while and had to recoup my energy after it died out.
Jeff has made me a loser, but I'm not sore. I'll be sending payment to whoever is the guy, I'll be checking out those tees tonight. As for "the rat", he's done better than I ever expected, but there's something to be said for the talent around him. But I'll also give him credit.
I'm still waiting for the big crash- but he's gotten them to the playoffs- Kudos Jeffie! And that's all I have to say about that!

F_B, I dont deny you the right to the enjoyment you CLEARLY got from "The Thread" as it shall forever be known. You had that comin'. No doubt.
And I really don't have issues (that matter) with 5. Kinda surprised that it's the thinking out here by at least 2 guys. Aside from FD, I think Ive defended him more than anyone since he got here.

I don't want to turn this into yet another McNabb-centric thread. But this sort of fits in with the current situation.
I'm a McNabb fan. I want to see him return healthy and on time next season, picking up where he left off this season. But I also criticize the guy when it's warranted rather than just continue under the blanket of "remember how bad it was before he got here!?!"
His is the greatest regular season QB the Eagles have ever had and a very good post season QB too. The expectations placed on this guy exceed any other QB in Eagles history not just in terms of his importance to the offense but also the investment the team has made in him. So, when he finally got his hard earned chance to win the big game... he was ill equipped, either mentally or physically, to run a two-minute offense and then he threw up.
Not saying he was the reason the Birds lost the game but it just played out poorly for McNabb.
Now the success of Garcia and the continued impatience of the fan base is starting to get to him. Seems he'll have a lot more to come back from than just a knee injury.
I hope he can do it.

Whenever McNAbb really starts to get hammered, it seems like he come out firing and play his best football.
That's really the duality of his personality that really makes you scratch your head.
I mean, on one hand the guy seems (and likely is) still harboring a grudge about being boo'd 8 years ago. On the other hand, he had everyone and their mother attacking his game coming into this season and he has the best start of his pro career.
It seems like he's over-sensitive on one hand and mentally strong on the other. It's just a weird combination. Most players either fold under the pressure or march right through it with their head up, but he seems to manage to cry about and play well...I don't get it.
At any rate, I've become more of a McNabb fan just from being forced to defend him so many times, but I see the flaws in his game.
I'll also be perfectly honest in the fact that Garcia has done a superb job with the offense. He's been getting TONS of help (mostly from the gameplan), but he's also just been playing great. If he was a 24 year old up-and-comer, I think the Eagles would have a real decision to make (potentially trading McNabb and going with the young gun), but as is...McNabb is still the best option.
I definitely wouldn't be opposed to a Jeff Garcia-style QB as McNabb's replacement in the future. I think we're all seeing first hand that pinpoint accuracy is a greater attribute than a cannon for an arm in this offense.
The laser-rocker arm is nice and the Eagles will continue to work with it, but I think the biggest difference between McNabb and Garcia is Garcia moves the ball down the field methodically while McNabb does it in huge chunks. Both ways work, but Garcia's is a lot less frustrating (at least during this hot streak).

Also, Garcia doesn't worry about playin into the Stereotype of a Latino QB, and thereby withhold his God given talent @ the expense of his team.
Just sayin'.

I have a dream...
I have a dream that the Eagles will run the same balanced offense for McNabb next year that they've run with Garcia the last 5 games.
I have a dream that McNabb will get to play in an offense that actually has the threat of a running game.
I have a dream that Momma McNabb wil have a bizarre keyboard-related accident that prevents her from ever again being able to post words on the internet.
I have a dream that McNabb will play in a pressure game in a warm stadium and not throw up.
It's fun to dream.

Saw a rack of Garcia shirts in Dicks sporting goods yesterday.
Think they were going for $55 a pop.
Never really understood the whole jersey with the name on it thing but to each his own.

Yesterday I saw someone wearing a custom made Rocky T-Shirt with him raising his fist in the air. Only he had 'Garcia 7'on the back of his sweatsuit.
On the top of the picture it said "Yesterday is History, Tomorrow's A Mystery" which is something Garcia said in an interview one time, I believe.

Seth,
Understand where you're coming from about the ill-times, idiotic comments. And for the most part I agree. And I accept your explanation that the "black-on-black" comment is just the most glaring example of his pattern of foolish remarks. I don't necessarily agree with that last point -- to ME it still seems like those comments bother you more than other things he's said -- and I still think his off-field behavior/comportment does not justify the harsh spotlight he sometimes suffers under. But I will agree that some of his inability to handle the glare is PROBABLY due to the coddling he get from his parents.
That said, the comment about determining one's blackness wasn't directed at you. It was in response to this comment you made, which I perceived to be a general statement, not you voicing a personal opinion.
"Only black people should be mortified by the shallowness and non - in - touch use of that phrase by a respected member of their community (the ones in the community who don't think he's too white/not black enuff that is)."

Julamy- fair enuff, we will just not see eye to eye on this, but to clarify 1 pt-
when i said only black people should be offended- all i meant is that for people like the press, and even me, despite my instinct to tear it apart- had no real JUST CAUSE to be offended.
Thats all.

BTW, I watched an interview with Garcia's Dad on Comcast yesterday. One of the things that was disclosed is Garcia's dad is going to be his best man at the upcoming wedding.
What is it with Philly QBs and weird family relationships?
