Cowher stepped down after 15 years... a nice run for the chin. He'll be a tough act to follow but whomever they bring in will definitely get their chance to succeed. Is their any franchise more patient than the Steelers?

No surprise that Davis got the Shell out of Raider Nation.
Not even the #1 pick could entice someone to go there.

I think Russ Grimm would be a horrible head coach.
He'd be a lot like Joe Bugel was in Arizona, I believe.
Not sure about Wisenhunt.

Isn't this a job, though, that if you are at least a half-decent coach, you should do well?
There is a lot of talent on that team.

Seems like Coughlin's gotten a 1 year extension.
Yay for drama and Eli's confidence getting crushed yet again. Nevermind the fact that the team turned on him - that's not enough to get him canned.
Speculation that they're waiting for Cowher/Fisher in 3, 2, 1...

Pittsburgh sports talk radio (yeah, WIP-like, but whatever), has rumors flying about Marco Rivera getting a possible interview.

Heard a theory that Parcells, Gibbs and Coughlin all will coach next year and then all will be gone.
Cowher will go to highest bidder in the 8-10 million dollar/year range.
Sounds assinine to me.

While I'm sure Cowher would like to coach Carolina because of its relative proximity to his new home, I think he has "New York Giants" written all over him.
Two of his daughters are at Princeton, which is close by. He's also the kind of tough character that New York would love. Same goes for Philly, but that job isn't open.
Ask any Steeler fan, and they all say the same thing I had been saying prior to Coughlin's 1-year gift: Cowher will wind up coaching in Cleveland.

He could get close to it. Look at how much Butch Davis got at UNC. Plus, it's his dream job. He may be willing to suffer through on $5 million.

Do you mean Ron Rivera from Chicago?
"Heard a theory that Parcells, Gibbs and Coughlin all will coach next year and then all will be gone."
That would be awesome. 3 out of 4 coaches being dismissed in the same year would almost assure Reid and the Eagles a couple more Division Titles over the next few years.
Unless a Sean Payton type situation happens at one of the three.

I think the Parcells/Giants rumor was bogus. In fact, I think the Giants have been "leaking" rumors about themselves for a couple weeks in order to generate some buzz and attract candidates for both coaching and the GM job.
The story went like this:
- The "buzz" surrounding the Giants was Scott Pioli was dying to be the Giants GM and bolt from the Pats. That was going for weeks.
- The Pioli buzz sprouted the Charlie Weiss connection. Not only are Pioli and Weiss close, the rumor went, but the Giants have always been Weiss's "dream job". It was "rumored" that Pioli was going to take over as GM and his first order of business was bringing Weiss into the fold.
- Last week, Weiss went on record as having absolutely no interest in the Giants job. I know what people are thinking (Saban), but he actually brought up the Saban situation and mentioned as a reason people will doubt him, but wanted to be clear that he was not leaving Notre Dame under any circumstances and he was not like other coaches who would lie about these types of things. Now, he could be B.Sing, but the way he went on record would make him the least credible guy in history if he changed his mind, so I'm inclined to believe him.
- Early this week, the Giants asked Pioli to come in for an interview and he declined. He declined to even show up for the freakin' interview! To me, that said he's just not interested in leaving the ideal, perfect situation and dealing with a failing team in an annoying market that will demand instant Super Bowls from him.
- The Giants (IMO) then leaked another rumor stating Pioli didn't accept the job for "personal reasons". Wat are the personal reasons, you ask? Bill Parcells is hgis father in law and the rumor was the reason Pioli didn't take the job, is Parcells wanted it.
- A day later, a "report" was broken that Parcells asked the Giants to hire him as the GM and the Giants said "we're not interested".
Basically, after all that nonsense, they re-sign their awful, hated coach to an extension and still don't have a GM, OR a GM candidate.
That's kinda what leads me to believe that the Giants were just using big names in order to stir up interest and hopefully make the job openings more attractive. Seemed desperate to me.

And a NTFF to the New York Post, for their back page headline today, the day after Coughlin was given the one year contract extension . . .

Watching the Giants fold like cheap lawn furniture will be amusing and maybe it'll take some people's minds off of how the Birds are doing.

No wonder they don't have any fans.

Any chance McNabb, Arizona's first son, had anything to do with this hiring?!?!?!?!
