So how is that an "illegal touch"? I can see it being called dead...
I still don't understand the whole kick/punt rules. If a ball travels over 10 yards on a kick and is recovered by the kicking team, it's the kicking teams ball. Why make it different on a punt?
And on a punt, if the ball can be knocked backwards and is sometimes down when it's touched and sometimes down when it's stopped, why can't it be knocked forwards with the same rules applied?

Because a kick is a kick and a punt is a punt. A punt is essentially dead until touched by the receieving team. If the kicking team touches it first, it is dead at that spot. If the recieving team touches it, it is live and anything can happen (muff, fumble) and then be recovered.

Didn't even need the block that got called either. It looked like Daniels was falling down and happened to take a Giant with him. Meh.

On the kick/punt thing, it's like asking why a pass isn't live when it falls incomplete. It's just how the game is.

Also, as long as the receiving team player is not on the ground when they touch the ball, it can be knocked around forwards or backwards, as in the diving saves from the endzones that we all see.

damnit . . . blocking penalty negates return TD . . . meanwhile, good tackling by Gaither to deny the Giants from getting a first down on the previous series.

So what the eff is up having Westbrook in for the punt return after wasting 30 seconds of clock, only to turn around and have him run the clock out right before the half? Don't like that at all!

great end-around by Reggie. End arounds rarely work, but the Eagles are really finding success with them versus the Giants
