"It's just how the seeding works, the number one seeds always play on Sunday."

not true. the league has many criteria to decide which teams play what day. its almost always one nfc/one afc game per day, and there are different time
zones to accomodate. plus each network has the right to one of the primetime games each weekend. while sunday is probably more common for the # 1 seeds than sat, its not a lock

It boggles my mind that anyone, especially PRIOR to any contest would think that the refs whether subconsciously or at the implicit or explicit direction of the league would have some sort of predisposition to what team they were going to favor.

Then those refs who did the 90s Cowboys games must've been "misunderstood".

“tin foil hat = Mel Gibson movie?”

Signs. Mel Gibson, Joaquim Phoenix . . .

“But I gotta think that one team plays on 6 days rest every year on Divisional Weekend.”

That’s usually the way it is, although it wasn’t last year. I thought the only thing that mattered to TV now was the fact that the two networks switched prime time Saturday and late Sunday games on Divisional weekend each year. Last year, NE-Denver was Saturday night, and CAR-CHI was 4:30 Sunday. This year the FOX has the Saturday prime time game and CBS the late Sunday game. Sam with switching who has the later Championship game.

The only time the time zone comes into play is not having a west coast team host the 1:00 Sunday game. They don’t care anymore if they have to have a Chicago or a New England game at 1:00, 4:30, or 8:00.

But I gotta think that one team plays on 6 days rest every year on Divisional Weekend.

That's the thing, though...if it happened every year or every couple years, I wouldn't think anything of it. It just doesn't.

Accordingly to an article I read this morning, the league is continuing to stick with the story that they were concerned about back-to-back night games for the fans in a Chicago winter. Everyone in the medai thinks it's a TV thing.

Oh well...whatever the reason, the Eagles certainly didn't benefit.

OK, enuff with schedule-gate;

Wanna be happy that THIS is as far as we go around here with regards to 'ridiculous posts'?

This gem, from the EMB, in all seriousness:

Start AJ Feely this week

hear me out...the saints wont be prepared for this guy so if we put him in there, they will be suprised and we have a chance to jump on them early. Also, i think putting Joselio Hanson as a LB to shadow reggie bush would work too, to utilize hanson's speed.

Some days I'm glad that board won't let you see anything unless you register. Spare us all the pain.

I will be honest, I think one of the reasons for the 6 day rest was that this game is what should be one of the more entertaining contests of the weekend and they wanted it in the Prime time spot.

Cue the 12-9 snorefest.

" "It's just how the seeding works, the number one seeds always play on Sunday."

not true."

It's true this week. HA!

Does it really matter? If the Birds lose then the schedule/officiating conspiracy theorists will have their excuse.

And if not one of those excuses it'll be something else: Playcalling, Garcia, Mahe, Lito's absence, Reid being fat, McNabb on the sideline pouting, whatever.

If they win then we get to do this all over next week.

Yay!

Johnson, I think if the Eagles lose we all know the root cause.

"They beat themselves".

For the record, I don't think anyone here thinks they'll LOSE cos of scheduling or officiating.

If they lose, it'll likely be cos they came out slow, like they've done plenty of times this season- and the Saints took advantage and racked up some pts. on em early- thereby making FB and Morningwheg abandon their new found "lets run behind this surprisingly good offensive line with this #36 guy who can do more than just catch passes afterall" gameplan.

It could also be that they went into a fairly tough place to play, noisy atmosphere, with an evenly matched team and Garcia's deal with the devil (C'mon, Carmella, then this run at age 37?) runs out at a bad time.

Nope. They definitely beat themselves.

Plus, there are no fewer than 3 active curses curses on the Birds (Curse of William Penn, Indian Curse that was placed on the Linc...forget the reason, and SI Curse), so they are playing the Saints, the refs, the schedule, AND curses.

But F-Dallas, if they win this week, they'll have an extra day on the Seahawks-Bears winner.

It all works out in the end.

It won't matter, mind you, b/c the run ends this Saturday night.

I'm trying to find it...it was a funny one.

It might not have been an Indian curse, but it was something funny like that (Indian, Gypsy, or something like that) and was put on the Eagles when they opened the Linc. i think it was supposed to injure players.

Yeah, wasn't the indian curse something where an Indian priest offered to bless the stadium and the FO told him to kiss off? So he cursed it instead. Or something like that. Too lazy to look it up.

Here it is..

(AP) - Philadelphia - August 29
Tribal Leader Claims to Have Placed Curse on Lincoln Financial Field

Two games, two losses. An offense that has yet to score more than 12 points. Fourth round pick Jamaal Green out for the season. Defensive tackle Paul Grasmanis, wide receiver James Thrash and first round stud Jerome McDougal all carted off the field.

Philly fans are left wondering... is the new Lincoln Financial Field cursed?

Up until now it has been sort of a joke that fans have muttered under the collective breaths as they left the first two preseason games at the sparkling new replacement for Veterans Stadium.

But according to Algonquin Indian tribe member Robert Blackwoods, the bad luck that seems to be emanating from the Eagles' shining new stadium is not mere happenstance.

"It's a cursed stadium, and I cursed it," claims Blackwoods, a 67 year-old elder member of the Algonquin Indian Tribal Council known by some in the tribe as the resident "witchdoctor."

According to Blackwoods, Kud International, LLC, the developers of Lincoln Financial Field, failed to open many of the construction bids to his tribe and would not respond to repeated requests from Blackwoods and other Algonquin members to hire Native Americans and other minorities.

"To be blunt, they have no idea what they have brought upon themselves," asserts Blackwoods. "The Eagles will not win in that stadium, its that simple. Injuries are just the beginning."

While he would not elaborate as to the exact method used to curse the new stadium, Blackwoods made it clear the curse will stay in place until the Eagles and Kud provide his tribe with reparations.

"For anyone who still doubts whether this curse exisits, I encourage them to sit back and watch what happens on September 8," warns Blackwoods.

"Unfortunately, it is the Eagles players and their fans who will have to deal with this," said Blackwoods.

Neither Eagles management nor representatives from Kud International, LLC would comment for this story
