AP is now reporting that there was no marijuana or any other illegal substance in his water bottle.

I haven't seen the updated report, but they never reported there was any weed in it. They reported that it smelled like weed and it was a device specifically sold for the purpose of hiding drugs (for the most part).

I find it hard to believe there was nothing illegal in that bottle. Based on the descriptions, it actually sounded like either hash or opium, the latter being a much bigger deal.

Like you said, that device exists solely to transport contrband. Now it is entirely possible that it was empty and he just wanted to save the bottle, but if there was any residue inside, I can't see how it could be anything other than that of some sort of banned substance.

f-d, the original report said there was a "substance" in it that smelled like weed, and that's what they were testing for.

Maybe it was just catnip?

I got the impression is was resin of some sort from the initial report.
