WOW. What a game. I can't believe that Manning led his team down the field, then ran the ball 3 times from the 9. He would have been cricified if Addai hadn't scored... Guess that's why the hole was so huge. Good for Peyton. Was there anyone watching the game that didn't think he would throw an interception in the final drive? ESPECIALLY after his pass attempts the drive before.
Last week we watched the Patriots win like punks. This week we watch Brady and Belicek run to the locker room after the final whistle. True, the Patriots are tremendous in big games, but can we finally put to rest that "classy organization" stuff. Would Belicek had run over to hug Mangini had his team LOST to the Jets? It's easy to be classy in victory.

I'm happy for my team, but I feel bad. The people here are going to be so sad, so sad for months," Kelly said. "The Saints needed it more than the Bears."
Im so happy I could spit.

Must admit, watching Belichek storm out of the RCA Dome like someone stole his favorite teddy bear was a thing of beauty. He did, however, talk for a minute with Dungy at midfield, which is more than what you can say about Mangini.
But the way he stormed out when Manning tried to talk to him? Humorous.
And this was the first time that Belichek almost looked like Andy Reid, not really adjusting on the field and going AWAY from the run and Dillon, when it seemed like it was working before. If anything, it would've allowed the defense to rest. Of course, Maroney looked like he was doing the "Acky Breaky Dance" in the backfield.

I like the way Brady left the field, too.
We knew there was chink in this team's "classy" armor, anyway

I never thought they were even remotely classy.
They are the most impressive dynasty in modern NFL history (IMO), Brady is one of the best QBs of all time, and Belichick is one of the best coaches out there.
However, they play dirty, treat their players like shit, and exhibit some of the worst sportsmanship (In victory or defeat) I've ever seen.
That doesn't take away from their accomplishments (in fact, it probably helped them get there), but the Patriots were never "classy" IMO.

I was expecting Belichek to take his last time out when the crowds were storming the field with :10 left. It's definitely something he would do.

I know you weren't saying it...just trying to say I never understood why they got that label.

The "media" (including Boston Sports Nimrod Bill Simmons) portrayed the Pats as underdogs through and through, and said they had NO CHANCE winning in SD last week, even though most of us already knew Schottenheimer would find a way to lose that game.

Winning makes you seem like a lot of things. It's easy to confuse them with being "classy" because they've won for so long.
In reality, they're truly dirty, and the Deion Branch scenario is proof of that.

Was there discussion yesterday about Lovie Smith being the lowest paid coach in the NFC/NFL or something? Does anyone know more about this?
A bargain basement coach taking his team to the Super Bowl has to eat at Joe Banner just a little bit if true.

Gotcha. Yeah, friggin spin machine that the media always is. They did the same thing with the Bulls under Jordan's reign. So damn annoying.
That's why I don't think the media is liberal or conservative. I think they're just an irresponsible entity that likes to make story despite any evidence

Yeah, at $1.2 or $1.5 million he's the lowest paid coach in the league.

Yeah, it's true, and the Bears are in negotiations with him on an extension, but they wanted to wait until he "did something" before giving him more coin (not sure why he took the lower offer in Chicago...maybe just to get his feet wet?)
And while I'm still not in love with their coaching staff, Lovie waiting until the season is over nets him a HUGE payday, if not here then somewhere else.

Aside from having the balls to go for it on multiple 4th downs...
Belichek and his team are typical Massholes. Their behavior is exactly what I'd expect of the Boston sports scene.

"including Boston Sports Nimrod Bill Simmons"
Threadjack alert - Simmons gets a pass from me for his hatred of the Yankees, but you're right, the "woe is me" attitude about the underdog Pats is a little ridiculous. Most of us had them picked against SD last week, and a lot of people had them this week as well. Eff the Pats.
Should have known that a good dose of football weather would bring the Saints back down to earth. And as Seth said, thanks Drew, for not playing like that last week. Eff the Saints as well.
Rooting for 2 and 5, undoubtably the numbers I'll get in the 100 squares pool. Eff everything else.
