In his upcoming book, he has some not-so-nice things to say about a variety of players. But he also takes a shot at Supah 5:

"When he (Donovan McNabb, Eagles quarterback) had a chance on the biggest stage - the Super Bowl - he wilted. Great players play their best in the biggest games. He didn't. He made bad decisions and it cost his team."

He also doesn't consider Peyton a great QB because he hasn't won a very big game.

WRONG Jerry! He got tired and threw up. Get your facts straight!

People just can't wait to take shots at McNabb.

The working title for Rice's book should have been "Can't Let Go: How I tarnished my legacy by playing 7 years past my prime and looking about as natural with braids as EAG at a Mama McNabb autograph signing"

F-d, he had 1,000 yards the season Oakland went to the Superbowl, nothing to sneeze at.

And what do we see when we look at your fingers?

The crusted remenants of a sticky, foul smelling substance the seems to define what you are all about on a Friday night, and probably Saturday night too...

F-d, he had 1,000 yards the season Oakland went to the Superbowl, nothing to sneeze at.

No doubt, but let's get serious here. Even including his juice-fueled renaissance season, he had 13 100 yard games in his final 9 seasons (5 of which came in that miracle 2002 season).

That's not awful, but for a generation of kids that starting really watching football in 3rd grade, he was average until they graduated and went to college (when he retired).

This is a guy who basically averaged 100 yards and TD per game for his career up until that point in an era where WRs weren't regularly picking up 1,500- 1,800 yards (not that they do now, either).

I mean, this is a guy who would have thrown himself in front of a bus if he woke up one day and had T.O.'s career bests next to his name in the paper.

Not saying he still wasn't productive in spots, but it was tough to watch him for almost the last decade with his fake gangsta hair, throwing a fit on the sidelines when his catch streak was broken, forcing Steve Largent to un-retire his number in Seattle so he could catch 15 passes, and having to get cut in training camp by the Broncos...

Not taking anything away from very possibly the best player in history, but I guarantee you there are a lot of younger fans who will never see him or understand him as that because of the way he limped to the finish line.

I'm with F-D on this one. Not having read the book, but seeing the quotes from the article, Rice sounds like a bitter former player who can't accept that his career is over and is looking for any way to stay relevant. He's taking shots at a number of players, which is his right. And many of the points he raises (abut McNabb, Manning and Brady among others) are all legit. But it just sounds childish and whiny to me.

And yes, his cheesy, receeding hairling cornrows that started halfway back on his head, were the absolute worst.

If you're going to look legitimate wearing cornrows, someone in your crew must have killed somebody.

Iverson's posse fulfilled this requirement several times over.

As for McNabb? Perhaps his mother bored someone to death.
