I'm listenign the ESPN Radio and Joe Theisman/Colin Cowherd are discussing the question of:
"Why is Donovan McNabb more criticzed in his own city than any other QB in the league".
HA!

This is where I think it's different. Most other players are criticized for their play.
McNabb gets that, but he gets the whole other batches of criticsm NOBODY gets.
- Boos on draft day...sorry, but they happened. Minority or not, you can't change history and that was his first moment of exposure to Philly.
- Rush Limbaugh.
- T.O.
- J Wyatt Mondesire.
- Where he works out.
- How he works out.
- How fat he is.
- What he Mom thinks.
- What his Dad thinks.
- Whether or not his teamates like him.
- How he dances.
- How unfunny he is.
- What music he listens to.
You forgot one:
McNabb abuses the rights of the handicapped.

ESPN Radio typically isn't lazy journalism.
I think Philly fans honestly believe that McNabb's criticism is "normal" and "the same every other QB gets". It just isn't true.

FD- for whatever reason, I was pretty aware of the roasting that Elway rec'd for MOST of his career in Denver.
Now, if you were, you know that McNabb hasn't seen CRAP yet.
Though I would draw a comparison to their careers and I could certainly see a similar end for McNabb as Elway enjoyed.

I think it's more that we think that list is trivial and not evidence of him being crucified

Another thing McNabb has to learn is to unbutton and pull down his suit jacket when giving a press conference, or else it gets all bunched up and props up in the back.

Nah - I think Merrill Hoge has him beat by a couple of lengths.
There are certainly worse charcters out there. Theissman is more high profile because his continued existance is because he's got some pics of someone with a llama.

"His questionable leadership skills..."
who questions his leadership? the media? fans? is it perception or reality and how can you tell the difference?
i think this is a BOGUS claim. you can question a player's skill, his ability, his toughness, but unless you're in the locker room and on the team, you really don't know. it's all conjecture.
leadership is the most overrated characteristic that the media and fans like to talk about. no matter what the sport, if a players puts up numbers and doesn't say a word, he's deemed a 'quiet leader', who does it by example...if he's a rah-rah guy, who pumps his fist and jumps up and down, he's 'fiery' leader who wears his emotions on his sleeve. just because garcia is the latter version doesn't necessarily make him more of a leader than mcnabb. it's a joke, especially since none of us really knows what goes on behind closed doors.
i've used this example before, but when the birds started 0-2 the year douglas and b-mitchell were let go, the media was all over how they missed the veteran leadership. i found it interesting, how nobody was talking about how much they missed them after they reeled off a bunch of wins and headed to the play-offs.
if you think he is or is not a leader really depends on how you feel about the player in general. if you don't like #5, then he's not a leader. if you do like him, then you probably think he is. it's an exercise in futility.

Some QBs come to mind (Sheli, Brooks, Harrington, Carr even), but I can't say for sure because I don't have XM or Sirius.

That's an insane statement. Insane.
Elways got a lot of "big game" criticism in Denver, but people genuinely dislike McNabb and everything he does here. He gets the whole hate package.
He's most commonly referred to in this thread with descriptions like "a sensitive baby dork", by the people who say he should understand they love him.
You guys are bananas.
