Acknowledging that a lot of the criticism of McNabb is dumb, unwarranted, and wrong does not make one a homer. Acknowledging that McNabb needs to learn to let stuff go and stop holding grudges does not make one a hater.

What's it gonna take guys? Would you guys feel better if you could pen a letter to McNabb and extend your side of the story, even offer to sit down with him in a round table forum to clear up some of the misconceptions?

Maybe he thinks Seth is that same nimrod who comes to games dressed like one of the Road Warriors.

Regarding Cataldi, you seriously, seriously overestimate the average Eagles fan.

Seriously.

You can watch any show on comcast, any time a local news team interviews fans on the street, etc.

The average Philly fan is a fucking idiot.

"Truth is McNabb gives a crap what the fans think and he doesn't give a crap what the fans think. If he did maybe he'd take you up on an offer."

This is the part that I don't understand. Anyone with a clue knows that chances are, McNabb and most others out there could care less about the fans. So why the hell would anyone give a shit about what he does if it doesn't effect the game?

Donovan can be a whiny dork, Garcia can take it up the ass, Trotter can take handicapped spots, Dhani can get arrested for dancing on South Beach, and I couldn't give a flying fuck if any one of them can help win the Eagles a Super Bowl.

Analyzing the man's personal life just seems to me like the sports fan's version of watching a soap opera.

And by the way, any Eagles fan that complains about McNabb not being able to let things go and being too sensitive about things. Ah, hello? Pot meet kettle.

No Philly fan would ever hold a grudge or be sensitive about anything trivial. Nah, not us.

MLewiskid is right . . . it's futile to argue with those who dislike McNabb (or at least dislike their PERCEPTIONS of aspects of his personality).

And the comparison between the crap he gets and that received by other QBs is a weak Effing argument . . . and whoever brought up Culpepar . . . please, he had the pleasure cruise incident, played like shit the first few weeks and then went on IR and he doesn't take half the shit in Miami (a football crazy town that despite the Heat still thinks of the Dolphins as the only real game in town and he doesn't get ripped half as much as #5, and I know this b/c my uncle lives in Miami and has season tickets and gives me daily updates on local Phins news in the papers and on radio).

I hope he gets traded and wins a SB soon, so all the assholes who hate him have to suffer through his crowning glory while this team suffers a long rebuild. I really do hope it happens. Absent that, I hope he wins the SB here and instead of saying "I'm going to Disney World" he flips a double bird on national TV and says, "you got your trophy Philly, FUCK YOU!"

I like how the spokesman for the franchise tells the fans to "get over it", while the face of the franchise admits he can't.

Wow. I can't believe the bleeding hearts that worship McNabb. People act like he's the only reason the Eagles have been successful during the Andy Reid era.

I never was and I'll never be that devoted to an athlete. Especially now in this era of free agency and questionable loyalty.

Need we be reminded that despite the huge money tied up in the business side of this sport... this guy is still just playing a game for a living.

I don't know if it's devotion to McNabb.

In my case, it really isn't. I was the first one saying "If Detroit offered the #2 overall pick, you'd almost have to take it".

My problem is I get sick of Eagles fans crying about him. It's just one whiny nitpicking statement about McNabb after another and some days it just gets annoying to the point where I feel like someone should stop the madness.

If McNabb got traded to the Vikings tomorrow, I wouldn't be out getting a purple #5 jersey or anything.

I agree. I'm on record as saying I like McNabb and I want him to succeed in Philly and I'd love to see him retire as an Eagle. But if he signed elsewhere he'd be dead to me.

I don't even read the papers or watch the post game shows anymore for the reasons you stated. The media is way too whinny and always looking to stir up some shit.

I honestly get all of my news about the Eagles right here on the 'Level. After a game, I might watch Comcast the next morning for a recap of the game and get Ray Didinger's take. I don't read the Philly papers unless something is mentioned here.

Exactly F-D.

Nobody's saying that their loyalty to McNabb supercedes their allegiance to the Green.

What we few McNabb defenders are saying, I think, is that comparitvely speaking he takes loads more crap than other lesser QBs, and most of the crap he takes is for STUPID off the the field stuff about his fragile ego and stupid jokes/antics/dancing.

It's just nitpicking over essentially nothing. He generally seems to be a good citizen, family man, role model (if you consider athletes role models) and a GOOD QB.

Yet instead of accentuating his positives, it seems that all we ever hear about is how he should do X, Y or Z better.

Johnson is absolutely correct in noting that he is a multi-millionarie playing a game for a living and the criticism comes with the paycheck.

The retort of we defenders is simply that based on his career performance and conduct, he should be at least respect around these parts. Instead he gets lambasted at every turn.

But Seth you're right about one thing, I have had a heavy flow the last few days. Thanks for thinking about the hygiene of my nether regions, brother (and you're jokingly calling Mlewiskid a Mo?).

He's dead to me now.

He died in Super Bowl 39.

When he is on the field now I pretend he is a much more tanned and nimble Roman Gabriel.

Pardon me for pointing out how uncharacteristically WHINING you sounded when aligning yourself with a guy who I like as a poster, but is comin off as a paid member of Team McNabb.

I dont WHINE about McNabb and his idiocynchracies- I just point them out, and the fact that if he really WANTED to shed the victim mentality *(which we all know he actually LOVES)*, he could affect some change but doesn't.

That said? Im on my feet, Screaming, each Sunday when he comes outta the tunnel and durin the game.

Sure, but he doesn't stop there. He sheepishly hands his mom a blog megaphone and decides to start a clothing line, among other things. Maybe it's good business in the long run for him, but when you put yourself out there with the little extras, you're going to get blasted for them.

Yet instead of accentuating his positives, it seems that all we ever hear about is how he should do X, Y or Z better.

I like McNabb just fine, most days. Half the teams in the league would kill for him. But if we spent all of our time "accentuating his positives," this would become one boring fanbase to be a part of.

The media will always have a job to do, and that's to print stories that get attention. Paychecks need to be signed, so this will happen in good times and bad.

But really...if your goal is to be a "leader of the football team," you need someone watching your back to prevent bad P.R. You can't have your mom saying that it's bittersweat or anything else to see the team win without her son. I know it's a small example, but it WILL get blown up into a big story.

Most fans root for the team, not the player. McNabb could quiet a lot of critics if he just learned to stop self-promoting in cases where silence or a head nod works just fine.

For his inability to let go, there are few QBs out there who are as good as him.

It's going to get a lot worse for him within the next few years if Manning wins on Sunday, since pencils are already sharpened as "this generation's Dan Marino" (complete with grudge - at least Marino kept his private).

I'd rather he win a championship and shut up everyone about everything - attitude, puking in Florida, dog toys, everything. But then how can he embrace his victim mentality when he no longer becomes one? That's a side issue.

Regardless, if Manning wins on Sunday, it may change things nationally a bit for Team 5.

So the question remains, which sides whine more:

- McNabb, who speaks without mangled cliches about 3 times per year.

OR

- The people who spend the other 362 days of the year analyzing and picking about everything he says or does.

Tough call.

Additionally, I don't think anyone believes the whining McNabb does affects his play, so why care?

For instance, the fact that he holds onto draft day. It doesn't affect his play, yet Philly fans stomp their feet every time he mentions it.

Why?

Not saying holding that grudge is a great quality, but why does it hurt the Philly fans so, when it happened and he factually references from time to time?
