B) FD- when have you EVER heard it repeatedly stated that he (5) cannot read a defense? No. Cover-Zerogate notwithstanding, he is again and again described by talkin heads on game days etc as being PERFECT for what Andy Reid wants to do with his version of the WCO, how he makes the right reads, or was smart to throw it away, etc etc.
Cover Zero was one everyone latched onto, but from day one there have been rumbles about his inability to read a defense, how long it was taking him to learn and offense, and his wonderlic score.
Can't pretend they weren't discussion points.

NTF!
Every haircut he has had has been criticized, also.

FD- did you ever poke fun at the dork in your HS Caffeteria? Ever make fun of the last kid picked for teams, or the kid who would bring his baseball card collection to school with him, who was into D&D etc?
Its human nature to laugh at dorks.
Your boy is, sad to say, believe me, rather dorky.
This could very well be a direct result (IMO) of being too closely sheltered/nurtured beyond an acceptable age by his parents.

I could go on...these are not the same criticisms Peyton Manning JP Losman, or Daunte Culpepper deals with (or dealt with).
Yeah, let's pretend Manning never had to deal with an idiot kicker, Culpepper didn't have to deal with Moss, or Losman didn't have to deal with limited ability.

Absolutely.
Now, let's pretend that dork is made available to the national scene and gets it from an entire city, 12 months per year.
Is that dork going to like those people and say "I'm sure they like me deep down inside", or is he going to go Columbine?

And last I checked, Manning was an even bigger dork than McNabb, but he seems to havce embraced it (or, more likely, not shown publically that he thinks about what the media thinks of him).

Okay...so some of them had to deal with 1/20th of what he has. Not exactly a compelling argument.

Manning doesn't get called a "company man" for being goofy, either.

Culpepper's dealt with questions regarding his intelligence, a volatile receiver, and the same section of media people who haven't gotten with the times. Furthermore, he's had Gus freakin Frerotte looking over his shoulder, along with fans clamoring for him. Not to mention his tiny hands and the fact that he has been, quite, chubby.
Now, Pep's not as good as McNabb, but he's been through close to what 5's been through, closer than you give him credit for.

No, he just gets called a "choke-artist" a "wannabe good QB", a "Dan Marino of this generation", a "guy who can't win it all", and other assorted criticisms. Not to mention there were questions of his teammates after the loss last year.

That's nuts. Because no one came to Rush's defense on his racist attack on McNabb, it never happened?
Just one of many situations he's been forced to deal with. You can't say he was destroyed by the media afterward, but you also can't say it didn't happen.

Again...those are football criticisms. McNabb gets ALL OF THOSE and the personal attacks. You make that statement as though no one has ever said "McNabb choked"...it's his freaking legacy at this point.

Not saying it never happened, just that the whole world thought it was retarded, so it should be easy as hell to not even worry about if you're not a 5 year old. And, I don't think that one bothered him at all. I think it's one of the rare times he showed some maturity.

And on top of everything else, Manning has the "Archie Manning" spectre riding over him, something McNabb doesn't even have close to.

No, the point was to prove that McNabb isn't alone in some of the criticisms that you say he alone owns.
Now we can re-visit that part of the argument in about 4 days, but for now it stands.

f-dallas... you forgot to mention his hair.
The only ongoing McNabb criticisms that I'd consider valid are (no particular order):
- His questionable leadership skills and the fact that he views himself as "the leader" almost implying the only.
- His penchant for the big interception
- His oddball sense of humor that always seems to be mistimed
- His lack of stamina in the state of Florida and how it relates to his conditioning.
- His inability to get past the draft day booing
- His reluctance to run for fear of being labeled. Despite that ability contributing to the FAT extension he got.
- His football skill set and how well suited it is for Andy Reid's system
I might think of more.
But I never heard a reporter ask about his sense of humor, his dancing, his musical preference. But then again I don't watch every second of his press conferences either.

KB got in here before me but I too would say that the RUSH incident was 1 time when McNabb acted very much like the QB I would love him to be-
He acted swiftly, like a man, mature, and handled the entire ordeal as it shoulda been dealt with.

Most of that list, you'd have to be as sensitive as McNabb is to really think he's had a tough time. His hair, his dancing? People don't actually hate him b/c of those things, it's just a funny thing to make fun of.
People happy Randall was hurt and calling him stupid are a bit more hurtful.

I meant why can't McNabb treat other nimrods in the media like he handled the Rush situation?
Though that line got a slight chuckle from me.
